Hi All,

We received electricity bill for one month 890QR, we were not able to believe as we use to get bill of 200QR per month in our previous flat. since it was the first month we spoke to concerned agent and asked him to pay as the amount included even previous months and we were the first tenant of the flat. But we received another bill for next month which is more than 1200QR...Not able to understand the reason at all.....Did any of you face the same situation anytime and can anybody guide me to overcome this problem....Does anybody know due to centralised AC will there be an increase in electricity bill?

but bring along an Arabic-speaking friend with you. Ask for a record of previous reading of your meter. Go there not on busy hour so you'll be entertained properly!

And also we donot have any proof to show the exact reading sinc the day we are staying in this flat to claim from the landlord. Is there any option to prove the reading and claim the amount. Please guide....

If it is 6000 unit then you will get the bill of 6000 X 0.08 = 480 QAR only.

Contact Kahramaa through 991

Note your service number before dialing.

My husband has checked every possiblity on this issue, he found out that the meter reading is worng & looks like they are not entering the correct meter reading in the bill. Current reading is 13000+ but menstioned as 7000+ so we are going to get 6000+ units of bill in the next few months. Karama is just putting some dummy reading to get an average of 800/mnt till it comes to the correct reading.

Can someone help us to get the right contact in Karama to sortout this issue.

You may switch off all electrical appliances including lights in your house preferably in evening or night and observe whether the energy meters runs. If runs then some thing else may be connected to your meter. Ensure it before complaining to Kahramaa

Just check BTU of your AC.

12000 BTU = 1 Ton

Following are the major consumption

Water Heater / Geyser = 2 kW/Hour

Electical Ovan = 2 kW/Hour

Microwave = 2 kW / hour

Fridge / lights are nominal

I agree, the bill is on higher side but it all depends on use of appliances.

If you open your house door freqently, heat may leak inside, the AC will be loaded more which will also increase power bill.

You may ask Kahramaa to calibrate the meter also.

Kadavsk i am not aware of the capacity...But even if it is 5 tons does the bill raise to thousands which is a major difference.....

What is the capacity of your central AC ? Central AC are generaly 5 Tons but depend upon the apartment size.

1 Ton AC generaly consume 3.5 kW of power but since it runs only 50% time, the consumption is about 1.5 to 1.75 kW per hour. The power tariff by Kahramaa is 0.08 QR/ kW. This means if one operate 1 T AC continously 24 x 30, the bill will be 86 QR.

For bigger size AC say 5 tons, it will be 432 QAR / month.

turn off everything and check your meter if is still running, if it is, it means it's the centralized A/C is somewhat connected to it.

check the readings on previous and current bill and then talk to them

you are sharing the consumption of the whole building including the common area. Better transfer to a new accommodation with no centralized A/C!

I would suggest you talk to the concerned people in electricity office.. may be they can tell you the reason and if required run a check.
