Some of my customers have had success renting specailized equipment like crushers and screening plants for producing aggregate from the excavated material. There are not many doing this which allows you to get good money for your equipment.

If you had a loading shovel, an excavator, a crusher and a screen you could charge you customer a cost per ton.

You could make subbase, pipe bedding or general fill

Many people are renting just excavators and loaders.

The prices can be very competitive

IS not a problem here, these machines are parked all along the roadsides in the Industrial area and in other locations such as Furousia Roundabout. I saw a story in the press about 10000 heavy trucks waiting for rental in the press about 2-3 months ago. I even remember some enthusiastic soul imported a bendy bus, about the length of two ordinary buses, and had it displayed in Salwa Road for sale/hire, never saw it again! If you're a good saleman negotiate a daily rate with some of these guys and sell them on a profit with no risk to you. That's how capitalism works! Buying equipment will only work when there is a shortage, which there is not existent now! this is Qatar and may change overnight!

Try to reduce your business risk by reducing the fixed costs upfront. One strategy might be to get the equipments on long term leases yourself instead of an outright purchase and then sending them out on short term leases. Maintenance is a major expense for such equipments. Type of equipment will dictate your customer base. Be very careful with cashflow in the early stages. All the best.
