Moving with a doggy

Hi all I'm just looking at options me and my husband could be moving to Qatar shortly, but we have a four legged friend that we would love to bring with us. Our dog!
We have just been told that they are no longer allowing dogs into the compound :-(
Do you know if this is true for all of them?

Also does anyone else have any experience of bringing pets into Qatar, is it easy?
what exactly is required?

Looking forward to your replies!

i dont know when you last visited Dr.Khaled's boarding , they have a brand new boarding facility with good space for and they do walk dogs 2 times a day as they have big open space just behind the hospital . I was really happy with their boarding facility when i used for my dog and cats and on top of that they are very good vets , i can go on vacation with out havin to worry about my pet's health as last time when my cat got sick while in boarding they took care of her so well , i would strongly recommend any one for their bvoarding and for veterinary services , their phone number is 44367187 www.dohavets.com

there you have it. Three different relocating firms who are all very competent.

However, I would like to advise you on the fact the both vets, Dr Pauls and Dr Khaled's boarding facilities are tiny and in Dr Khaled's case, the dogs are caged in tiny areas with no where for them to turn, literally. As far as I am aware, the animals at neither boarding facility are walked as they are both situated in suburban areas, where locals are prominent and do not like the animals being around.

The two facilities that are housed on farms, may not look that wonderful, but the care of the animal is 5* as the dogs are walked 2 times a day and have indoor and outdoor runs. They are in loving and caring environments as this is the main business on these premises, unlike the vets whose main business is medical.

Hope this helps.

We just moved to Qatar from the States just a month ago..so all this is very fresh for us. We had no problem bringing our 2 doggies here. We used an excellent vet..Doha Vets; Dr. Khalid El-Hossan www.dohavets.com..#974 436-7187. Highly, highly recommended..they handled all the necessary permits needed; picked up doggies at airport and got them through customs and took excellent care of them as we had to board them until our villa was ready. They were on top of everything..Dr. Khalid and his staff are the best..and the facilities are clean and air-conditioned..pls beware of some of the facilities here that claim to be clean/air-conditioned..after arriving we had a chance to visit some of these places and i am so thankful we did..one place in particular was absolutely horrible and the other one was ok, but was not air-conditioned which is a must. Also, we had no problem finding a villa/compound that allows pets..we used a realtor: Paula Grayson with Al-Fanar Real Estate..www.alfanarrealestate.com #974 519-5605..once again highly, highly recommended. She's an excellent realtor..very friendly, knowledgeable, prompt and just a pleasure to work with. We just told her what we were looking for and she was able to show us exactly what we were looking for..she did not drag us all over town (in this heat)looking at villas that was no where close to what we were looking for..so, if in need of anything just email..as all this is very fresh for us. Take care.

I travel to and from Qatar with my dog all the time. I go through

Dr. Paul at Qatar Veterinary Center http://www.qatarvet.name.qa/index.html

They can get you sorted. The best airline is KLM, definitely the most pet friendly... If you are coming from the States you will need a health certificate from your vet and an import visa (via Qatar Vet).

Please contact Janet Berry at [email protected] for info regarding bringing your pooch into Qatar.

Also, if you go to the Groups section at the top of the page, you will find the Pet and Animals group, which you can peruse to find out other info.

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, both rescued in Qatar. This is not a difficult country to bring your animal into, but sometimes due to the heat it becomes a bit unbearable for them, however, A/C'd accomodations sort that out.

Please don't stress, there are many compounds that allow animals. Just don't go into Al Emadi compounds or flats as they definatley don't. Try Beverly Hills, al Faziliyah, any of the alfardan compounds do to.

Good Luck
