Opening of a beauty salon

What are the steps involved to open a beauty salon.

I have made a list of the following which would be required:-

1. Place for a Salon:-

i. Have to find a proper location
ii. Have to arrange for funds with the help of bank

2. Have to find sponsor & set some profit ratio for him/her

3. Salon items / furniture:-

i. Could be bought from Al Nazih Trading or if there is any other cheaper n better than them then pls mention

4. Obtain visas to get related staff (I am interested in Nepalese all rounders & Filipinos for hair related works n mani n pedis)

5. Set salary / allowances for staff

6. Arrange for staff accommodation

7. Arrange a list of services to be offered in salon & fix prices for them

etc etc

I require your inputs into it & if someone can provide me with the list of services & its average rates that would be very helpful

Victory your advice is noted :) Thanx. I know no body likes competition but healthy competition makes a person improve :) Anyways, its my thought not necessary that others should think alike :) But I promise whatever steps I go thru I'll post here so that any other person who wants to enjoy this business should not go thru such difficulty :)

You know what if I start a separate thread & ask how much do you pay for hair dye ..... believe me I'll have at least 8 answers on first day itself but here specifically I am asking for something but no one is ready to share :) .... but as they say .... life would still go on :)

nobody likes competition.

Visit few saloons and get their price list. Any area densely populated by Qataris would be more advantageous and profitable

Btw u r right, I wont go for overseas staff immediately, I'll start with local staff first but with local staff since they live with their families so they have issues & any employer with a soft heart cannot force them to stay at work when they have children or husband sick at home or any other issues .... so its important to have ur own staff at parlour's visa :)

Yes I have some services in mind which are offered in maybe 1 out of 20 salons same goes to some products which definitely r not available in Nazih ... right now I cant disclose here :) & I am sure, Insha Allah, it will work fine. I'll post it here as soon as it starts functioning but I am not in a hurry since I have a small baby to take care of :)

Hi conscious,

Sounds like you have a decent start but Cherrukkan is right. You have to definitely do a feasibility study. There are soooo many salons in Doha and most of them use the same products. All of these products are also available at Al-Nazih. Is there a certain demographic you are looking to target? Are your services anything special compared to what current salons already offer? Doha is over saturated with beauty salons so if you want one to be successful, you certainly need to find a niche market. You might want to go to the ministry of business and trade and see what information they can give you regarding salons etc. It doesn't make sense bringing in more staff when the beauty school here in Doha has students who I am sure are looking for jobs.

Had a huge accident yesterday coz of my mistake but thank God all is safe except my sister who got 12 stitches on her leg. So that's all on the personal side Rizks :)

Mr. Cheru ... ur input is good, I'll put beauticians medical certificate too into my list.

t_coffee_or_me, u r right no businesswoman would give me this information that's why Ive asked u guys to help me out for example I know that 75 is a normal rate for oil massage for hair so similarly u guyz can tell me at what rate certain services were availed by you :)

I think that salon business is always profitable .......... reason being women are very busy these days since most of the ladies take double duties which are office work n house work so they take out some time for themselves to relax. I am talking about this point based on my own experiences when I used to work n I just paid for certain services only to relax myself & be in a different atmosphere :) I am sure most of the ladies would second my opinion & experience :)

First of all make a feasibility study! Then you should work out if it is going to be profitable or not. You should study the competition, their prices, their strengths and weaknesses and then should get the Commercial Registration for your business. Over and above all the other listed and non-listed things you should also get the license including the beauticians. The beauticians should get some sort of health certificates from the Medical Commission on a regular basis also.

I believe that beauticians as well as salons have to be licensed in Qatar.
