I am from the US and graduated from a prestigious university. I have studied Spanish, Arabic, and communications (PR, marketing, advertising, journalism, broadcasting). I have experience in PR, HR, management, healthcare, auto industry, business development, sales, marketing, retail, and buying. I have tried applying for several jobs online with no responses. I am very qualified but it seems like you need a connection to get an interview. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try the six American universities in Education City. They will pay a fair price for your skills.

WoW a lot of bitter people on here! Thank you to those of you who actually offered good advice. I guess I shouldn't have said high paying salary. I just meant decent salary. I am not "flashing my passport" but that's how it works here. Its very racist and sexist and you get paid based on your nationality etc...you are Qatari iloveqa so you should know better. And Mandiluur I think I will get paid more than $2 hour ;p I have done my share of waitressing in the US and actually made excellent money :) I am asking for tips since this a whole new animal to me. Qatar seems like a 2 industry country gas and oil or construction. It seems as if you don't have experience in these fields then good luck. And to get an interview you must know someone since practically no one here picks up the phone or answers e-mails.

The tip is: go back to the States and stop flashing your passport around here.

I have to agree with mandi here, women are second rate people, it isnt right but its the way that it is. How much is a 'high paying job'?

I guess a good place to start would be anything government or gas related, those are high paying jobs from what I hear and they like arabic. You might also want to try gulf hiring agencies and websites... I would imagine you found your way overhere attached to a spouse, so try to go through his company.

You are young, female and your limited experience is in "soft" fields. You don't have a profession or an advanced degree that would command a high paying salary, sorry. It's just not enough to be an American. BTW, my first job after my undergraduate degree from an Ivy League university was as a waitress in a nursing home. $2/hour.

keeping in mind your experiences, you can try for Dubai or Abu dhabi in UAE. you can get more openings.

anyway, the only possible tip is to post your resume in local online job portals.
