Financial Advise

I was advised to buy a old car in 2008 Honda Accord - 2003 Mod at 30000 QR. Now every year I am spending 10000 QAR for maintenance. My thinking now is whether I am spending too waste of money including P. loan interest + Maintenance if i would have purchased a new car, that might not reach even the end of value of my old car.
Any one can advise me is it better to sell this old one and to buy a new one is cost effective after 3 years or to continue with the old car?
New car proposal would be Toyota Corolla.
Thanks for your valuable advise to save money.

I bought a 4 month old Honda Accord in 2008 (2007 model) for QAR 60,000 (full option). It had done around 6,000 kms and had a service package with Domasco (Honda). Till date everything has been covered under the service package and the service of honda has been awesome. My only cost has been car renewal and insurance :-)

When buying second hand/used, you need to check the car thoroughly - if not you'll end up with a lemon and will spend more on maintenance than the savings on ur used car.Check whether the previous owner had maintained his car well else it will cost you quite a bit.

I love my cars and enjoy regularly maintaining it even though i barely cover any miles. My 2007 accord drives and smells like new :-)

a friend bought brand new sunny in 2005 @ around 45K.. total paid for it including bank interest as it was thru the bank = around 56K. same case.. never stalled, never broke down at it was brand new..sold it for 24K last month. He lost more than half of what was spent for it in 5 years. :-)

in 2004 i bought a used car (1999 model, 130K km)for 19,000 + change of the basics (brake pads/belts/filters/alignment/flushing/AC maintenace, etc) total spent= QR 21000. Never stalled, never broke down with regular change oil+filter every 5K + changed all tires once + paid same group of guys working in the company to check/Tune it at least every 6 months (done at home):-) at 100-200 QR and few bottles of beer.

sold it for 12k after using for 5 years .. i guess i made a right choice of getting a 2nd hand car :-)

Thats the problem when you buy very old model. sell your car as soon as possible and go for something from Nissan, toyota or honda.

corolla is a good to save money.
