Qtel broadband USB Modem
Hi
I want to let you know that Qtel's "broadband USB Modem"
Speed is FAKE!! they say It's 7.2 mbps but the real
speed is less than 1 mbps . I've subscribed for 1 year
Unlimited Download and I'm still calling qtel everyday
from July until now to solve the issue but they
Actually do NOTHING!! but sending me bills
400 Riyals/month for !NOTHING! they are also
refusing to cancel the service and give me a refund for
what i bay every month for a fake service.
I don't want you guys to go through all that ,that's why
I'm leting you know and I'm ready to give details
for people who doubt.

It has been around 2-months and if I canceled the subscription by my self I'll have to pay the price of a useless USB modem and to pay for 2-months I didn't use that service in . So I'll have to pay around 1200 QR
like I'm just throwing them on the street
qexpat is right I think the people who are in-charge of solving internet problems are totally unqualified so they cant troubleshoot problems they just keep trying and blaming the customer and making him feel that its his fault that they have poor services specially when it gets to internet and networking...

I am having a 4 MB ADSL connection.
I am getting 700 KBPS download speed. I have complianed multiple times to QTEL but no USE. THEY ARE UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
They have sent many technicians and this is what they have done.
First a QTEL technician visited my place and said I am staying FAR AWAY from the QTEL exchange and hence I will not get 4 MB speed. I was syurprised to hear that because I am staying in a residential area in Muntaza which is closer to Muntaza Singna in C Ring road. After telling that the Technician has left the place.
When I complianed again, another technician has visited my place and this gentleman told me that the wiring in my building was faulty and hence I am not getting enough speed and went away. I knew that he was wrong because my building was not older that 2 years. Still I went ahead and changed the internal Telephone wiring of my appartment from the DP box till my appartment.
I cmplianed again to the QTEL and they have sent another gentleman, and this time he started complianing about my laptop saying it is faulty. The guy sitting at the QTEL exchange ignited this idea in the mind of the Technician who visited my place. He left after saying that my laptop is faulty and said he would be sending some one else.
I waited for two days and then another technician visited my place with is laptop. He checked the speed on his laptop and noticed that the speed was jumping and sometimes showing 37 MB and some times 27 MB and some times 24 MB. This guy got frightened and went away mentioning that the problem is in the underground cable coming from QTEL to my building.
Another QTEL technician came after 2 days with a new wireless modem suggesting me to replace the modem to resolve my problem. I asked him to check if the problem would be resolved by replacing the modem. Even after replacing with the new modem, the speed never increased and it still showed lesser than what I was getting in the existing modem. Then he has taken away the new modem and mentioning that QTEL employees have to rectify the problem in the underground cable.
I have tried to send emails to QTEL many times after that. There is no response from them I am getting telphone bills for 4 MB everymonth QAR 400. They are taking the promptly but deny to rectify my problem. I have complianed even by visitng the QTEL al-saad office but still there is no use.
I got fed up and then complianed to ICT Qatar. I have sent multiple emails to them and every time I get a response from them that they will inform QTEL but nothing has happened till date.
I am suffering like this since March 2010 due to the pathetic service of QTEL.
If there is another service provider, I would have switched long back. Since there is no oter service provider I am living with the pain paying unnecessarily QAR 400 every month.
I have complianed them many times to downgrade my Speed to 1 MB but they are not doing it... I don't why ?
Sometimes I feel that QTEL is troubling me Intentionally.

7.2 Mbps = aprox 900 KBps as 1byte=8bits

I know all that but the speed is 35 KB/S
which means I cant even watch a youtube video!
Maybe 7.2Mbps if you are the only one using it.

As you can see it can be up to 7.2 Mbps.
No point in complaining, clearly stated.
It would be better if all providers also state their average speed.
