Puerto Princesa Underground River

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 km. navigable underground river. A distinguishing feature of the river is that it winds through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. It includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers. The lower portion of the river is subject to tidal influences. The underground river is reputed to be the world's longest. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing right to the water's edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards, and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave.

In the summer of 2009, I did visited the caves.

No less it could had be majestic trip.

During that time, the package trip did not included the rental of the water SOAK wooden boat, the life vest, the boat operator, the sub charge for the gas and guess what? the sub charge of the snap shots of the Photos inside the caves. Still I went on with my adventure.

At the time there was a lot of garbage and wooden shacks in those government lands.

That everything got clean up and beautify, well my hat is off to the locals, is about time they start thinking that tourist do like to spend money.

Guess what? The average Filipino never been outside their own 200K zone, either are too busy making money, or simply flat broke.

I'll bet your salary in Qatar, That I have been to more places in the Philippines for what you ever visited in your life time in your own turf.

Had you ever climb a Volcano in your life time? Like Tahal, or Pinatubo?

I got two climbs in my record.

So before you start opening your labios. make sure to use your coco, you don't know me at all.

I do critiqued openly the daily crap that goes on the Philippines, but I still love more this place, than you do.

This morning I did wake up and watched carefully how the village came together to harvest their own golden rice fields. For a thousand pesos for a huge bag of rice, I counted 500 in total and still by dawn they haven’t cut all fields of rice.

Get ready for my next Bulaga in QL.

thanks marga. . i agree with you, underground river is still clean and our local government in puerto princesa is doing a good job preserving it, not only underground river but the whole city.

@legal_pad. . have you been there? or at least have you been in puerto princesa? if not try visit our city first and see if you can find one polluted river. .

I beg to disagree, legal_pad. That's just a hasty generalization. Am pretty sure you haven't gone there. =) It is but a beautiful scenery. And for now, it's still very clean. Hope the town will be able to preserve it that way.

How does it become a "wonder of the world"? Well, at least it's not man-made, unlike the other wonders of the world. It's without a doubt artful work of nature.

How can you vote for it a a "Wonder of the World".

It may be beautiful, but not a wonder I'm afraid..

It is true that it is a spectacular view.

Except for the vandalism inside the caves, garbage, graffitis, ETC

But lets be real about other realities, due too the over population encrouching those waters (SQUATTERS) and rapid industrial growth, all the waters of that river are polluted and it is not a so magnificent boat trip.

Maybe Dracula might consider living inside those caves, someone very hungry will hunt him too.
