Hey,you guys have so cheered me up,,,I was so bored but have enjoyed sharing with you some of my life. I can't lay claim to it,I'm just daughter/wife of the men who are so wonderful. Yes,I am so very proud of them, but,as they both said...they were just doing their job.

Yes,I am very proud, even more so,because they don't like to talk about it. Sadly, father no longer here, but he was so private about his achievements.he flew the Queen and many others, but always kept quiet.
Ok... hubby holds the record for the longest ever rescue by helicopter without touching land, and my father did 80 hours, nonstop, around the world, wired up to all sorts of experiments, with no break. He was then photo'd on top of Empire State Building with Robin Knox Johnston. Was in all international papers.
I don't think you can beat the thrill of flying in a helicopter! I have thoroughly enjoyed both! My Hubby has nearly 6000(six thousand ) hours flying helicopters and my late father had 24,000 hours fixed wing! They both still hold world records for flying feats, still to be broken.
I was actually in the latest Thunderbird movie. I was inspecting Westminster Bridge one early Sunday moring in the summer few years ago when the filmed the final part of the movie. Even got a Premier ticket from the Film team at Liecester Square..:)
I've done both fixed and rotary wing, and I prefer fixed. Faster, smoother, quieter, more comfortable and they glide better if the engines quit. True enough that I can't just stop in mid air like with a rotary wing.....but not really a problem where I tend to fly.
As for jumping out of any servicable aircraft (fixed or rotary wing), I can't say the idea appeals to me at all....so don't know why they'd want to :p
Well, who wants to bowl along a bit of tarmac at crazy speeds when you can just lift off and fly away! I've flown a helicopter and it's an amazing feeling!

i think ballooning would be most thrilling.. not experienced though.
it would give you a smooth vertical lift and you could sail through the clouds and get your clothes moist.
I won't ask about tacky things like the "mile high club", but what type of records ??
Come on ................ SHARE !

You look more like a Thunderbird 4 Type.

Thunderbirds are go..:)
You must remember how the British invented the VSTOL aircraft and pioneered the Harrier..
You must also recall that Thunderbird 2 can land vertically using the thrusters skillfully controlled by the pilot - Virgil.
The future is Thrust.. Not neccessarily rotor thrust ..

pennie, I am afraid I am not bored enough to have an opinion on those items. Once I do, I shall let you know.
Do know of any drop zones here?
pennie, what exactly do you want to know about them? tell me.
I'm very bored and wondered what you all think about helicopters and fixed wing aircraft!

Sorry but what is this about?
