For 10,000 QR? (newly qualified no experience teacher) plus fully furnished accommodation, healthcare and flights for 2. I have 2 young children, they will pay fees for one child. Anyone work here?

hi newteacher - I mean its not a nice area of town...all the Al Jazeera and Al Maha staff this year were housed in the Al Jazeera compound but the school is rebuilding some of the accom so they are moving out the Al Maha staff back to Bin Mahmoud (spelling might be wrong). My friend who still works there flatly refused to move there so they relocated her in the Al Jazeera compound to a 1 BR apt. They tryed to tell the teachers that Bin Mahmoud was nicer than Al Jazeera which was an out right lie. Ask questions about the accomodation, the health benefits etc. Make sure your health insurance is private and you can go to the Al Ahli hospital (not the public one)...the Talum Group lie to get western teachers here, just do some reserach and ask as many questions prior to coming out here..

As Raven rightly said Al Maha does not look for quality in education. They fire teachers without valid reasons & there is a lot of discrimination.Anyways having a British passport will help you a lot as that is all that matters to the management as well as the parents.Your mistakes (if any) will be overlooked by them based on your passport.

the offer on paper is good for a newbie teacher, but be very wary of Al Maha, they are run by the Talum Group who fire and dismiss teachers at will (mostly western teachers). The accomodation they will house you in is in a dive part of town, the building was supposed to be condemmed last year. The reason I know this is I have several friends who taught there, one still does and my wife teaches at the sister school Al Jazeera (also managed by Talum). Just do your homework on this school first. Good luck.

Yep, Why not. If they are willing to take you with no experience I'd say go for it.
