Castro fears for nuclear war in Middle East

HAVANA CUBAN communist leader Fidel Castro has made his fifth public appearance in slightly over a week to warn Cuban diplomats about what he believes will be an imminent nuclear war in the Middle East.

...“All responses have already been programmed,” warned the 83-year-old leader of the Cuban revolution.

“It’s only a question of seconds ... Today it is not possible to draw plans that would not be computerised.” Speaking of his health, Castro said that he was able “to partly repulse his consistent and grave health s ituation,” but did not elaborate.

In your opinion, how reliable Fidel Castro's statement about this possible nuclear war in ME?

ending up again in bashing & insulting:(

Reading the above comments, I always noticed this, not only in this post but in some few other threads as well, that there are always the presence of American-Isareli haters! Why is that so? I was only asking your opinion 'how Castro's words are reliable' in today's time? Because recently I've read that Medvedev had commented that Iran is actually capable of building up nuclear weapons. Statements coming from these men, the so-called leaders of the world is definitely not a joke! Now, you can bash US, Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan for anything you like, but the fact that somewhere out there Iran & N.Korea had actually been preparing for something big!

For me, it's horrendous to think about these wars or nuclear war and I hope it won't come true! I'm not being pessimistic but the signs are already there & we who composed the tiny part of this world could do nothing but to WAIT & SEE:(

Scotiabank does his own share of bullying and insulting others. But he's a big boy who can take care of himself, I think, and a little less moderation (rather than more) might bring some life and interesting discussion to qatarliving. Unless you prefer discussing biryani and Filippina's love lives :)

Dear Moderators and Qatar Living contributors,

*I am putting this letter on several threads in hopes that people will see this and take notice*

I have visited Qatar Living's website for over a year, enjoying the friendly advice and informative discussions. I have never bothered signing up for an account with Qatar Living until now, because, quite honestly, I am a bit behind the times when it comes to computers. However, watching the user named Scotiabank hound other participants these past two nights has infuriated me. He is the definition of a cyber bully, violating the rules of conduct and ruining discussions.

I have watched as he follows someone across QL to hound them. Yes, others have risen to his baiting, and they should be a little embarrassed, but the user Scotiabank's behavior is shameful and against the rules. After seeing his handiwork again this evening, I took some time to look up his other posts and discovered that he has been doing this for over a year, calling names, insulting nationalities, making racist and threatening remarks, and being generally divisive and inflammatory. The moderators have deleted many of his posts for abuse and last night even threatened to remove him. It is clear he has not learned his lesson, and so the threat should be carried out. Let him back in later if you must, but put him in "time out" for a good long while.

Some say Scotiabank is an "impostor" and that he has fabricated his user identity. I have found no proof of this beyond the accusations made on quite a few occasions. Many of the posts his accusers refer to as holding proof have been deleted or edited, so I cannot pass judgment but is is a little suspicious. At the end of the day it does not really matter much as I suppose plenty of others do a little fudging on their biography page.

I suppose now this Scotiabank will take a stab at me, calling me a thug, slut, leech or whatever filth his mind can conjure. And he will then blame everyone else for his misdeeds. But I am a forty-six-year-old grandma from Texas, so hardly the type. I am Christian but I have great respect for all those who are devout in their religion and I found the devoutness of some of our Muslim neighbors to be inspirational. I am no longer in Qatar, so I have little to lose here. I just like coming on to Qatar Living and reading about what is new with a people and a country that I found to be so welcoming.

Anyway . . . I have said my peace. I will not log-on to Qatar Living for a while, because I do not what to read the nastiness that Scotiabank uses against me. Hopefully when I do come back the moderators will have removed it and him, and Qatar Living will be a better place.

With all the best and sincerest of wishes,

seniormom

In other words my fellow posters, he is attempting to save face after ranting and insulting me with his incorrect information only to get exposed twice! One for the fact itself, then claiming I relied on silly publications! LOL!

Per Scotia's post above. good for qatar for overtaking the USA as the leading producer for LNG. happy to admit that I was looking at an article from earlier in the year and was mistaken. not a big deal.

scotiabank . . . now that fellow QLers have identified you as an impostor who has fabricated a false identity here i have no desire to have exchanges with you. i enjoyed our earlier exchanges as entertaining sparing, but since you are not who you say you are that makes them creepy and meaningless. stop following me around QL and trying to engage with me by posting on my thread. i REALLY am done talking to you.

You responded to me 3 times with the same comment, funny how you chose to "stop responding" after I exposed you for your lack of knowledge and ignorance. To the other posters he started insulting me about a fact I posted on Qatar being the largest LNG producer in the world, and went on a rant about how it isn't. As soon as I posted reports from Shell, Business week and so on, he says he doesn't respond to impostors!LOL, funny internet thug.

crnkshft the problem is iran don't have any accurate planes, they tested missiles before and they are very poor designed.

effective.

Not sure how many that view this thread know about Air-Fuel Bombs, but they are simple and devastating. The components to make them are likely built in every country, and the fuel to make them work is common knowledge to most college chemistry majors. This would be the best weapon that Iran could use without violating any Nuclear treaties.

The problem with the Air-Fuel type bombs is that they are heavy, and the planes that are needed to drop them are slow moving targets. Best bet you send up a huge run when no one is looking drop them and turn and run. Downside, US made Isreali fighter jets, and surface to air missiles will take out the bombers after the first run. They will also shoot down just about every jet that leaves an Iranian airtport. I think the US and Isreal would be best served to let Iran work through the UN process. Worst case scenario they make a small device and it works. This isn't WWII, Iran does not have a third Reich, or any significant infrastructure. They are land locked with something like 20 US airfields within bombing distance, and who knows how many surface to air launch sites on land and from ships. It is like Chess we have all the advantages, so taking our time a being patient seems like the best strategy. Just my opinion, I do not claim to be an expert, just thoughts...

No way Iran attacks the military base in Qatar as retaliation for what either Israel or US does to it. It would quickly alienate its neighbors and give them an excuse to take a more aggressive stance against Iran (Saudi is already doing this). Besides, the US military presence in Qatar is probably the only reason why Iran is not claiming the Qatari gas fields in gulf as its own. Just ask the Emirates about this:

http://www.examiner.com/x-7095-NY-Israel-Conflict-Examiner~y2010m5d9-Major-Mideast-misconceptions--3-Israel-occupies-Judea-Samaria-and-Gaza-Part-2

Robert Gates (the US Secretary of Defense) is not Rumsfeld; and he is not about to support another war of occupation. The US is far more likely to conduct air attacks on limited (if any) ground strikes designed to shake Iran's infrastructure and economy--what happened to Serbia but on a larger scale.

We could throw in India and Pakistan into the mix here, but I believe India would not use their nuclear power in this way. I do not think the US would use its anti-missile defenses to stop India from lighting up Pakistan; I think we would just sit back and watch. I recommend that Pakistan work with the west for peace.

Dot.Com we do not have any Ministers in the US, except in church.

Just as a note.... The missiles that Israel has will actually work… as they were built by the only nation to use nuclear weapons against an enemy. Not to mention the US have an anti-missile defense system in many places here in the gulf religion.

Iran on the other hand, they have home built Chinese and North Korean designed missiles. And if the test fires of the Iranian and North Korean missiles are the examples of their effectiveness, then only Iran should be worried.
