1 month in Jail for attacking qatari police!
I find it hilarious how in the other thread I made a while back about the kid who got 5 years in jail for stopping a police from performing his duties a lot of people on here said it was justifiable, blah blah blah. This guy actually attacks a police man and only gets one month, it's in today's gulf times.

Man jailed, fined for attacking cop
A Doha court has sentenced an Arab expatriate to a month’s imprisonment and fined QR10,000 for assaulting a policeman on duty in October 2008. The Saudi convict, however, was cleared of the charges of cursing the plaintiff, for lack of evidence.
According to the court papers, the accused (25) while driving his car took a U-turn in a way that endangered the safety of other motorists. The incident was seen by a policeman who stopped the driver and asked him for his driving licence. A dispute between the two arose when the cop asked the suspect to follow him to the police station. “The angry driver allegedly snatched the licence from the policeman, slapped and stoned him in front of onlookers, who intervened and successfully separated the two.”
A medical report supported the policeman’s claims and the court ignored the Saudi’s denial, saying it was a ploy to escape punishment.
Just don't blaspheme as you strike the police officer. Even the accusation of it comes with a seven year sentence.
Sadly, it seems true that there are different standards for different nationalities.
Four of my compatriots (of same family) were deported last year for beating a police officer. The police officer was not on duty & was driving his personal car when he got offended by being tailgated by the four coming behind in their pick up. He started beating the driver of the pick up and didn't listen to the requests made by the driver's relatives...resulting in a fierce reaction from them. The police officer ended up in hospital and found innocent later on in the court. Unfortunately, the newspapers didn't even bother to report it and nobody took notice of it.
Now, an Arab expatriate is sentenced only one month in jail. Another regional expatriate is sentenced to five year in prison and a South Asian is deported? Are their different standards for different nationalities? Or may be, the policeman beaten by the Saudi was a South Asian by descent?
There is a slight difference here. In the other story, the person hindered the police from doing their duty. He stopped the policeman from chasing or catching the culprits.
In this case , the culprit tried to resist arrest. Have seen this most weekends after the pubs close here in London.. ;)
Exactly, why is saudi introduced into this? LOL. The point of this thread is to highlight how that kid stopping a cop from arresting a couple kissing gets 5 years, whereas this guy assaulting the cop only gets a 1 month, look at how random it is! It seems like the judges pick sentences by spinning a wheel like on Wheel of fortune.
just 1 month???? naaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
u know it better
Dot.Com what does Saudi have to do with this?
Really good to share so we can have a real idea!!!!!!!!!
there are people above the law... and rules are only for those who are visitors here...
rules are rules, no one is above law... for every action there is equal and opposite reaction - sah!

Yesterday night (btw 9-12) i was hanging out with my friends, and suddenly decide to watch WC final in Aspire Park, wat i've observed there, that Local with thob on head were allowed to enter park, but for the rest, it was a family park, luckily i was the one with no restriction.
was it Saudi's inspiration or enforcement to restrict the rest and ban their entry to park???
There needs to be a serious overall of this justice system. Good on you kbaisi for continuing to point out these injustices.
kbaisi is bringing up the two different standards in punishing the culprits. The boy who stopped the Officer from doing his duties got jail sentence for 5 years while the Saudi guy who did the same or bigger offence got only one month imprisonment.
why the hell, ppl are greedy to compare every single news with Saudi???
Kbaisi ....... its ur frustrated system, u've to stand against.
finally QL will overcome its dullness... :P
My sense...wondering there is no reports from Saudi..
It's not a joke Nathan..many cases of rape happened in that country, not only for woman but man as well.
'The Saudi convict, however, was cleared of the charges of cursing the plaintiff, for lack of evidence.'
'in front of onlookers, who intervened and successfully separated the two.'
So because no one heard him cursing... the charge was dropped? you can pretty much figure if he was hitting, he was cursing....
I love this country;-P
My sense...we understood your sense on your good looking...
Saudis are dangerous anyway..when i was in SAUDI if their pulis catched you for any violation, be carefull you are in big-big trouble especially if you are good looking guy without beard or mustache!
kbaisi,
If you are really a Qatari, thumbs up ;)
