Australian female cabin crew please reply
I am a 24 year old Australian female currently living in QLD (I have a loving partner at home) and have had a job offer to leave home and relocate to Doha as cabin crew. I have a few questions that I would like answered as I have only a few days left to make up my mind. I seem to be only getting replies from males and would like some advice from females as there is a whole other world based on our gender right?
If there is any Australians that are cabin crew and are based in Doha PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE speak up and let me know your opinions as this is a massive choice for me and there is a lock in contract.
Kindly thank you for your time.
Ok UK I will log in with my Voluptuous Female id...and answer :(
i just wanted to warn a woman from western world, how things will be in the accommodation .
this is no way to discourage you. I am not a person to advise you about your joining.
As you are from QLD then you might be better off with Emirates, one that they fly to QLD and second you will be living in Dubai which is far better than here..
Good luck with your choice..
Guys get serious, first she asked that only females should reply to this post.
Secondly Flanostu is not female but a nice bloke from QLD.
tavelbug Flan is a your typical aussies guy, I am sure he will give you unpartial advice.
Anyway I am heading to QLD for my Summer holidays..(even though its winter in OZ)
thank you - how would I find her on here? This is the first time that I have used a forum before and Im still not sure how it all works. Thank you for the contact :)
Tht's the reality here. Currently few Aussie female cabin crew has joined QA bcuz QA is flying to MEL.
Life is ok here but not as wht u have in Queensland.
U can try out if u r willing to compromise the life with ur love ones.
There is an Aussie female cabin crew on QL named Flan...you could send a PM to her...
better not to come here
anywayz you only need ladies advise
Find qatar airways in FB you will find lots of cabin crew of your nationalitY.
Surely not, because the airline is Qantas.
AT least they give you a Koala for company at Qantas :O)
You better work at Qantus
Hahahahaa
I don't think you can get a job as a cabin crew at Qantus
maryam...... i don't work for QA... but i am working for etihad as a cockpit crew..... i had interaction with former QA cabin crew, who are flying for our airline, they have said restrictions are there, pay is almost 1500 us dollars excluding Meal allowance, depending on which sector you are flying... Compared to salaries from other middle eastern airlines, QA Pays less then Etihad and Emirates....
I was talking to an engineer on the aircraft, he said that engineers got a pay rise on thursday, i don't no if you people got it or not........
dear madame
doha is a very safe place.qatar airways is run bu local so they can you as well as fire u so think well
I am Australian But not a white Australian, living and working in DOHA qatar for some time
The way you ask the questions is not really right
I don't think you can survise to live and work in DOHA and working as a Cabin Crew in Qatar Airway.
I am not not a Cabin Crew but I have a lot of friends who are different nationals they are working OK
That is all I can say.
Don't expect as working condition in QLD
And always remember: 'Out of sight, out of mind' is translated by a computer into 'blind idiot.'
If you can bear leaving your loved one in exchange for seeing the world and meeting different people, then go fo it...
The downside is that long term relationships don't usually work :O(
Hey listen that's a good chance, don't lose it.
I couldn't agree less with Joseph.
the have fredon to come and go even on off day, provided they abide by the curfew of 10pm where no males are allowed after 10pm. I live in my own apartment so dont have that problem but i know its hard to have a curfew. Also they are not allowed to sleep out and have to show ID cards at the entrance. Yes these are annoying.Cameras are there if there is an incident that is reported, then they will check their cameras to see what happened.
Uhm about the private taxis,I havn't heard of girls getting questioned when going in prv taxis, that is ok.But i think you mean when they go to the QR Towers they have to go by karwa or with their husband or family.Although many times I could not find a karwa and I went to the Towers by private taxi,I just sat at the back and anyone could see it was a prv taxi because it wasn't like a flashy car or anything lol.no one questioned nor did i get into trouble. So i guess it shouldn't look like it is your boyfirend taking you to the Towers lol. Yes we can take the company busses to go to the towers as long as we wear our ID's. But our ID's have to be worn at all times at the offices anyway, and we have to dress in business/smart attire (no jeans)..
Yes if the cabin seniors or cabin senior directors report a case or bad incident, they will investigate the matter and see if the crew is fit to stay in the comapny or should be terminated. I guess they do terminate crew but only those who do not follow the rules. So we have to be careful and just always keep professional.
I am not a crew..but my nephew was engaged to a QA airhostess and I used to visit their accommodation.
May be other thngs are true,, but the accommodatin , they live like a jail , I heard
-- there is no freedom to move out and come, even if it
is their OFF day
-- it is suspected, they kept CCTV surveilance camera to
find defaulters
-- most of them do not have cars , even if they engage a
pvt taxi operator , the girls will be questioned. And
you know, how hard it is to wait for KARWA taxis
-- even if they go to the HO office on their off days for
any personal matter, they are not provided
transportation nor allowed to take a pvt taxi to
to return to their accommodatin
-- the same thng happenign even if they visit city center
-- there is always fear psychosis and they please the
supervisors. If the "junor bosses" report wrongly,
these girls get punishments / terminations
If I am wrong , please correct, Mariam
if its your bf your worried about.....worst case scenario, he can visit qatar and get a visa on arrival..tada! Easy peasy.... seek your priorities first....job, them get used to the environment, etc etc etc.. thats my two cents worth..
Even though the contract is 3 years, you can leave after 2 years and dont have to pay anthing back to them. But if you leave before 2 years there is a part of your salary that they take away, not too much though. So the contract is not binding.
i think all of these people that have replied to you are not crew. lol.. its funny how people have a bad perception of QR based on what they've heard from others and then they discourage others to pursue their dream. yes there are some negative things about qr but the crew are very nice and there is a good level of professionilism in this company. You get promoted quickly and salary is good. Layovers are good and you can see your partner every time you get a flight home as you can bid for a flight home every month when you start flying. Enjoy! :-)
Hi,I am not australian, but there are many australian cabin crew who have joined QR even before we started flying to australia and I know that they really enjoy flying.Dont let people put you down about being cabin crew and leaving your loved one at home.I have been flying almost 4 years for QR and love it.The salary is very good and it does increase as you go along.yes there are curfews in company accomodations but you can move out to your own apartment but have to pay your own rent whereas QR gives you free accomodation and transport. You can start taking leave after the first 6 months of flying and then you can go home.QR flies direclty to australia so travelling home is not a problem.I have argentinian friends who have to take alot of connecting flights to get home and it takes 2 days for them, because QR has not started flying there yet. You can also bid for flights to go home every month and alot of crew get the flights they want and get to go home often. So you have many chances to see your partner. He can come visit you although unfortunately he cannot stay in company accomodation, but i guess there has to be rules like this in Qatar as it is a muslim country. But you get crew discount on lots of hotels in Doha as well as in other countries which is good if he wants to stay at a hotel. I hope you take the opportunity to experience flying as it is a once in a lifetime experience and you will make lots of friends and see many wonderful places..your experiences that you have when flying are priceless.
dear....
i m not australian or cabin crew.....
u must understand,,,,,,every job has thereown difficulties and problems....especialy on the training period....
after u femiliarise with job,,,co workers and adjusted with ur flying u will be happy....
good luck....
oh yes and if you are interested in alot of BS inner politics & want guys around you who think they are tom cruise but eventually looks like one of your kangaroos back home please welcome aboard
Very hard life!!!
if you are not force from your family to join at this job than leave it..
Yes, it would be a massive choice, as you say. You would leave your partner at home with fairly few chances to see him in the next few years. You would not have flight privileges for the first months and wouldn't really have the time to fly to SYD very often. He could not visit you in your provided housing. You would share accommodations with others and have a somewhat restricted life like a curfew on flight nights. Your clothing, make-up and attitude will be regimented. The training is rigorous and the hours and flight miles are long. The pay is so-so, not too much different from the starting pay at other ailines, although they give raises whereas QR doesn't keep up. You may or may not find your flying partners congenial. That said, if it is your life-long dream to travel the world for free and experience all sorts of people and cultures, then why not? You will have a frustrating, hard and fun two years if you accept.
