Cables on the road.. !!!!!

Hello,

Everyday I drive to and fro from Doha to the industrial area for work. I have been noticing a pair of cables lying across on the road after each round about on the Doha- industrial area road.
It gives a thud sound every time I cross this pair of cable. I have noticed that the ends of these cables are attached to a device kind of thing which is placed at the median.

Any idea about what it is? Just wanted to know.. Out of curiosity..!!

Anybody there?

Regards,

Shah

Ashghal are the naughty munchkins who appear when we are all asleep and dig up the roads and then disappear into nothingness...

i used to install them, perfectly safe to cross as long as they are securely pegged down at each end.

It is correct that it measures the amount of traffic. I believe its done with air pressure.

I do have to say that i truly hope that all people who drive like idiots and do not respect any other traffic and pedestrians should hit a concrete wall head on.

Just the other day we were overtaken in an alley, the car drove like 60 KM per hour and a lady walking down the street had to jump away in order to prevent gotten hit by that car.

Take care,

Dutch

use to estimate the traffic load on the road..

used in the Road Design..It record the no of vechicles crossing that cables at certain period of time.

Nothing to do with speed but drive safe and be catious :)
