French Language Classes

Hello all,

I've been trying to get through to the French Language Centre for days now and it seems like there's no response to email/phone or anything - does anyone have any information on their classes (or any other French classes available in Doha) or a reliable contact for them? thanks so much !

Yes - they seem exactly what I'd like to pursue, just my issue is HOW!?!?!? lol - The contact info for them is useless and I have no clue where exactly they're located nor their hours if I were to show up. Are they within the French embassy? Presuming their classes are evenings also, so wouldn't they be open then? Any insight would help - thanks!

Hi. I did respond to one of the threads here on QL in Dec 08 but haven't been able to get my act together to sort out continuing my french language classes.

Currently, trying to find time to continue with my basic Arabic first. That's also stuck in limbo at the moment... Sigh!

Anyway, FYI, the info I got was that (bracketed comments are my added ones):-

"The Centre Culturel Francais (in Doha) is quite like an Alliance Francaise (in Malaysia), the only difference is that it depends on the French Embassy.

... but you can an idea about our French and Arabic classes on our website : www.ccfdoha.com

We also offer cultural events like cinema, conferences, etc. They will start again after the holiday, in January..."

Further response to my PM to kind person who assisted:-

"Oui, il y a une bibliothèque au CCF.

Les cours de francais sont en francais (quelques profs parlent arabe, tous parlent anglais, mais le cours est normalement en francais). "

Translation (pls excuse errors - shoot me later but catch me if you can first :P)

"Yes, there is a library at the CCF. The French courses are in French (some teachers speak Arabic, all speak English but the courses are usually in French).

I asked re the library as I would be able to read only the very simple ones, maybe books for children for now.

Hope someone else who knows more about the CCF will be able to advise you (and me)

/Pitstop, I'm still looking for Arabic children's books with the harakat...but I'm out of Doha ... :0(
