Is Vodaphone blocking calls to Virgin?

dazzler
By dazzler

I can call the Virgin line from my Qtel phone, but my Vodaphone line is telling me the call cannot be completed?

Anyone else having this problem?

The email was sent yesterday at 4 PM to Customer Care and cc to ICT. Received the autoreply messages (one of which is out of office)

I do not have to disclose here to anyone my contact details.

I will not be surprised if some Vodafone agent tells me that the technical support do not work over the weekend.

Anyhow. Thank you for your willingness to help.

Just an update. The line is still down as at 12:00 AM today. That is after 34 hours from deducting the amount from my credit card & after 20 hours from sending an email to VF & after 20.5 hours after hearing all the assurances from the call center agent that the line will be on by night (he did not specify which night).

BTW. my last call of yesterday lasted more than 23 minutes. Usually in decent call centers, the supervisor checks for calls that last long time and interferes. It seems nobody bothers.

For your info. The same problem happened to my daughter a couple of months ago. Because it was VF mistake - as usual - and after a big fight, they sent her 35 Riyals credit to enable her line pending sorting out the technical problem.

Bottom line. VF is cheap in rates and seems to be cheap in everything. We forgot the saying that "cheap is expensive"

To conclude. One can not survive and it will be a high risk to have only a VF line, each one should also have a Qtel line.

Hi,

I'm very sorry you have had a bad experience. Please send me your numbers and I can look into the problem or have someone call you and take the details. Which ever would suit you best. You can mail your number to [email protected] either.

We did have some issue with technical problems in recharging a customer "stuck" on a few dirhams. I will look into the 2010 problem you have had also if your minutes were taken away in error I will reinstate them today.

Thank you for your feedback though as it is very important to know of any issues our customer are having. We are here to make a world of difference to everyone in Qatar.

Whether on the technical side (network) or on the customer service side (Call Center).

I am reposting here an email which was sent earlier to Vodafone. Of course and as usual. No response. Just an "Out Of Office" auto-reply> How funny.

Here is an extract of my email:

We are having frequent problems in refilling the monthly fees for my lines. Mainly ******* & ******* through flexi schemes.

After midnight today, my number ******* was disabled - cannot dial - and found that the credit is 1 Dirham. Contacted the Call Center and was told a long story that we still have 1 Dirham and hence the balance should become zero to refill, was advised that we will get 9 dirhams to make a message and hence have the balance zero. Cut a long story short, we could not do anything. After a long fight with the call center agent, they advised that they reduce the plan from 220 to 110 and refill the credit. At around 2 AM, 110 QRs were deducted from my credit card and the line uptill now (4:00 PM) is still down.

At 2:00 AM we were told that the technical support does not work at night and we have to wait till morning. During my recent call to the Call Center, we were advised that the transaction will be handled through the technical support manually and it will take time and promised to have the line available at night. No time could be mentioned.

Now I am confused. At night we are told the technical support does not work during the nights. And now I am told that the line will be working at night. Sorry but I do not buy such false commitments and promises.

Please note that. My credit card is always active and valid and have sufficient balance.

I do not have to call many times to refill my cards. Always get the magic words (withing 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours) and end up having the problem solved after 2 weeks as usual. Also when you had a major problem some 3 months ago. you did not bother to notify us about the problem. We have to fight for each number to have it working.

You have generously eliminated the 2010 free minutes because of your mistake and you did not bother to admit it and re-instate the free minutes.

**************************

Update: Line is still down. Contacted the customer service few minutes ago. The first attempt, after giving the information to the agent, he hanged up or the line get disconnected. He did not bother to call me. Called again and they asked for my full details once again to start investigating the problem. By full details I mean: Name, ID no., Date of birth, PO Box, Nationality.

I wonder if Mr. Kelly. Vodafone advocate. has an answer to such unprofessional and inappropriate service

Hi Chantelle,

I do use our international calling service everyday. It is true that sometimes the call drops. we know we have a network issue and we ARE working on improving it, it is not as simple as flicking a switch. We are having network issues because we did not expect to have this many customers at this time but our promotions attracted a lot of customer who are still using our promotions. What issues are you having with our customer service? A network issue is not customer service. If you have an issue please send me the details including your number in a pm and I will check it out.

Vodafone are working as fast as we are allowed to improve everything. As I said in an earlier post Qtel have been here over 15 years we are only here 15 months.

Thanks for your feedback

my thoughts exactly lubaib!

Hi Andrew...true vodafone is offering rock bottom prices here, cheapest in the market but i suggest you try making an international call from your service, you can never get through on the first attempt and the call keeps cutting all the time.so really we are losing money rarther than benifitting from the offers..i think what u need to do is forget targetting on the number of customers and focuss on the quality of ur service for a change!I have had vodafone sims in other countries (the service is not the best in the market but definitely better than here), when i first came here last year i got my SIM from voda as its a brand i know, but for a good week i had trouble making a simple local phone call!maybe you guys should stop fooling the market and improve your quality of everything especially customer service!as for virgin mobile it was a relief to finally see a brand of its calibre come to qatar...you should visit thier store or call the call centre and experience thier service and feel the difference...sorry andy ....

Hi Lubaib,

The plans were in place but then when we started things changed and we had to do it all again. This was out of our control.

I'm sorry you dont think our offers are great, we do have a lot of people who are very happy with our offers. Our 0.50 QR international promotion changed the whole international calling market making it cheaper for everyone with competition reducing prices. Our free 2010 mins for Vodafone to Vodafone numbers, thats 33 hours of free calls. Free 300mb each month for 6 month, now 10 mb free reduced price per mb and free Facebook, Maktoob, Orkut and Friendster.

I do believe we will be very successful here in Qatar and will make a world of difference to all the people here in Qatar. having said this Qtel have been here for over 15 years, we are not yet 15 months here.

Things will change and grow for Vodafone.

Wat Impression Wud He Have About This Rich COuntry ?!!

Fine, Thats An Excuse And Its A Fact Too That You Need Time To Do All The Paperwork And Towers And Stuff , But You Need To Do Em Before Starting The Company !! And Vodafone Aint Ever Gonna Be Succesful If You Are Irresponsible And FOols The Customers With Shit Offers !!

Vodafone Is Never Gonna Be Succesful In Qatar, And I Hope People Stops Wasting Their Money For This SHit Network !

Hi Rock,

Thanks for your feedback.

To deactivate voicemail please ask your friend to dial **004*141# then switch the phone off for 1 minute and then switch it back on.

I am sorry you are having a bad experience with our service. We are working as fast as we are allowed to improve our network. Qtel have been here a long time and have established a good network. We do plan on having a world-class network but unfortunatly building towers does take a lot of paperwork and time.

Stick with us and in the end you will be very happy you did.

Hi Andy,

Good to see VP represented here.

Would like to share my thoughts.

Back when i was in business, and i missed 1 call from a customer, it would be mean loss of revenue. i.e., if a customer tried calling and he couldn't get through, he would simply call the competiion. (nature of business, needed quick serviceability). So you see in this scenario a 0.5 qr discount is meaningless.

Now when i call some friends on their vp number (from my qtel sim), i manage to get through just 2 out of 10 times. Most of the time, call is transferred to voice mail, which my friend cannot retrieve and also cannot get disabled. Knowing this, i would not buy a vp sim even if the calls were free.

just my two cents

The most useless service I have encountered anywhere in the world. When you call their Egypt customer service they say they'll get back to you and don't. I don't get any reception at work, or in some rooms of my house. They said they checked it out and that "Yes you do" - er, no I don't. You email them on their website and they will get back to you 'within a month' (more than a month now, no answer). Stopped my direct debit to them, my premium number will expire in 6 months but I don't care. I am now making sure I tell everyone I know to never use their service, if I had time I would wear a sandwich board outside their shop all day with 'Vodafone are useless' on it.

Yo! Jorj

ur right VM had pause selling sim card for 3 days to add some stuff in the product, this for the customer convenient for them to easily understand that VM is working under the license of Qtel, means brought to you by Qtel,...

there are some people being misunderstood that VM is a new brand in Qatar though working same network with QTEL...means it Qtel's (other service)

^__^ but wait what is actually commotion between Qtel/Vodafone/Virgin Mobile...oh my gosh is so simple just take the sim which ever we like

People here in Qatar is just really something.

For your info... VM start today (Saturday) selling now their Sim Card...

Vodafone Has A Good Side i.e They Provide Free Internet And They Got The Best Call Center Which Responds Whenever You Call Them, I Guess Thats The Only Gud Side They've Got !

What Pissess Me Off The Most Is When They Offers Promotion Just To Fool The Customers, The 2010 Free Minutes Was One Big Joke !

The Offer Said That We Hav To Recharge Once In A Month To Keep The 2010 Minutes , I Used To Recharge Like EVeryweek And Yet My Free Minutes Got Cancelled Sayin That I Havnt Recharged My Sim For A Month !! Bullshit !

And When I Contacted The Customer Service, They Said There Was Some Trouble And They WIll Send Me Bak The Free Minutes Within Two Dayz, And After Two Dayz '' Within 48 Hours'' And After 48 Hours Again Two Dayz, It Went On And On For Almost A Month Till I Lost My Patience And Threw Away My Vodafone Sim !

Im Not The Only One, I Know Almost All Of My Friends Had The Same Situation !!

And The Voice Quality Is Really Stupid ! It's The Same Quality Which You Receive When Makin Calls Thru Internet.. Well That's Fine, Since Vodafone Is New To Qatar And It'll Take Time To Catch Up !

But Offering Promotions And Fooling People, Bullshit !! Im Sure Vodafone Wont Stay For Long In This Country If They Keep Goin On The Same Way !

God Bless You Vodka-fone !

Can you let us know what exactly is not working? You were trying to call from a Vodafone SIM to a Virgin Mobile number? This is working, only known issue is their helpline.

By Balu995• 19 May 2010 08:51

Why is it clearly a Vodafone problem?

Same problem applies for Qtel by the way: there is no chance to call Qtel helpdesk from your Vodafone mobile. I had the problem myself when trying to call them for an issue with my DSL line.

Same story here: the alternative hotline (4380000) does not work because they are not routing it. Problem has escalated by me as a customer to ictQatar, but so far no progress.

Cheers,

Markus

Why would Virgin block calls to their own helpdesk? That makes no sense at all.

Hi Fungun!

I assume that Virgin Mobile / Qtel is blocking the incoming call from Vodafone. You can reach fixed phones from your Vodafone SIM (they normally start with 4).

Andy will check this from our side but I would recommend as well to contact the Virgin hotline from your other phone and inquiry with them.

Just checked it from my phone, it is blocked as well.

Cheers,

Markus

Hi,

If the helpdesk is a shortcode i.e 111 you will not be able to call it from your Vodafone number. If the number is a fixedline number then you can.

It is the same as trying to call Vodafone helpdesk 111 from a Qtel phone, it will not work.

The shortcode is specific to that Network.

I have to agree with Whaoay, Andy. Vodafone's call-success rate is so pathetic I don't even waste my time trying to use it. Your company should never have given all those free minutes if the system can't handle the volume. Besides, I haven't been able to roam in Dubai or Germany (where Vodafone exists) even after trying to turn on the convoluted roaming feature in my simcard's menu. Sorry, but it's simply too late to make a difference now-I'm just waiting for Virgin to introduce a mobile net package (even though 1 Riyal/Mb is better than Vodafone's). Good luck though.

Hi Potelbat,

Your comment is incorrect. We do have a call centre in Doha, we also have one in India for our Hindi and malayalam customers a well as one in Egypt.

We are committed to giving our customers 100% satisfaction. I know that this hasnt been the case yet, We do know however that we have a lot of customers very satisfied with our great value promotions and costs.

In Qatar we have all of our operation including call centre. As I mentioned earlier we have a call centre in Egypt and India as well as our call centre here in Doha. This is to hopefully give access to all the people in Qatar to talk to us in their own language.

VFQ need to improve their network......

international calls quality is same as net phone calls,

if you try to call on Fridays, the line will get disconnected after 30 seconds, and the will charge 69Dhs per call, how dare this .........

really its horrible some times when we call International.

thank God still I have Q-tel sim with me......

VFQ is best only in one coz of the free VF minutes, otherwise its simply avoidable ..........
