i would suggest 'FS' and 'SPEED' to put these guide lines on main subjest of thread, as many members may not notice them here...

We welcome your blood donation. . .

If you are 16 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds or 50KG, have not donated in the past 8 weeks (16 weeks for double red cell donors), are healthy and are not currently taking antibiotics, we welcome your blood donation!

You may NOT donate if you:

- Have cold or flu symptoms on the day of donation or do not feel well

- Have ever used a needle to take nonprescription drugs

- Had hepatitis after the age of 11

- Ever had a positive Hepatitis B or C test

are at risk of catching or spreading the AIDS virus.

- If you have traveled to any of Asian (India, Pakistan etc../ African countries within 6 months, where the risk of malaria is high.

- If you are tired and not feeling well

- If you are taking any antiboitics.

I have issue bout antibitocs...but per the links, after 10 days of taking antibiotics is qualified to donate... last week i just ended taking antibiotics for my tonsilities...so its a good news for me... let see what will happen next during the assessment on that day...

Sorry but can someone explain the rules about giving/not giving if you have been travelling? I'm assuming travelling to Hong Kong, Dubai and UK will all be fine and I will be able to donate?

last time i went to donate blood they told me we still dont have enough come later and we will pump up some in you :D

Sorry FS, I can't give blood this time, I'd like to say it's because I weigh less than 50kgs, but that's not the truth, LOL! Don't think I meet the requirements because I've been home at christmas & Dubai last week :-(

Eversince Ive been a volunteer of the Red Cross ive always wanted to donate blood but unfortunately i didnt meet their weight requirements :( until now.

FS, i would be glad to be a part of this noble cause but alas i can't coz u know the reason well..But u know one thing, my husband always go for donating his blood whenever therez such campaign..he dares not to take me coz he feels that the HAMAD staff will instead make me to lie on hospital bed to give me some extra blood coz of my thin body sturcutre or else they will send me back....lolzzz..

WK they dont accept contaminated blood... please dont bother..lol

Coz last year when i went to donation unit in hamad hosp, that sister ask me "how many hours you slept last night" i said "four", then she refuse to take blood and told me that "you have to sleep well, like six hours to donating blood."

I never knew that. Coz when i was in my country no one asked me such question. i think it would be good to inform others about the conditions before giving blood.

i am sure SPEED can guide us better.

Success is not something to wait for;

it’s something to work for…

FS better post all the conditions required to donate the blood. So some should not get quilify for this event like last time happend in the Hamad Blood donation unit.

There are some conditions from them like when you came back from home country (should be more to 3 or 6 months), sick , antibiotic used for certian period.

It's a good cause, but I can't donate either. Maybe I should bring chocs for the victims. Oh I mean the donors :D
