WELLINGTON, New Zealand—A cash-strapped New Zealand student who auctioned off her virginity to help pay her university fees said Wednesday she had accepted an offer of 45,000 dollars (32,000 US) to sleep with a stranger.
The 19-year-old offered her virginity to the highest bidder in an on-line auction on the ineed.co.nz website and said there had been more than 1,200 bids.
"I have accepted an offer in excess of 45,000 dollars, which is way beyond what I dreamed," the student said on her webpage when the auction ended.
"Thank you to the more than 30,000 people who viewed my ad and to the more than 1,200 offers made."
Calling herself "unigirl," the young woman had described herself as attractive, fit, and healthy, and said she had never been in a sexual relationship, though it was not clear how she would prove that.
She did not respond to media requests for an interview but the proprietor of the website, Ross MacKenzie, told the Waikato Times newspaper he had been authorized to confirm the transaction
Perhaps the NZ government should take a look at their educational loans if this is how far students have to go to pay for college. Speaking as someone who's $50,000 in debt for her schooling I can't help but think maybe this chicks on to something.

to justify a mistake, small or big is to support and encourage the person to commit more mistakes.

going back to the original post, the question was whether what the girl did was justifiable...to the girl, & as i said earlier, she obviously felt it was justified...as to society where she's a part of & therefore should abide by the set norms, what she did was prostitution. police in most societies even go undercover to apprehend "ladies" soliciting (in exchange for sexual favors). i wonder how nz's police would handle this (if ever).
Honestly I won't mind auctioning my virginity :P

I think the girl must have been inspired by that Japanese tradition when the young geisha virginity was sold to a rich patron .
But this tradition has been illegal in Japan since 1959 .

the stranger got off cheap... some girl in the US sold hers for like a few million on ebay. She was doing it through the bunny ranch in texas and i saw this on TV.
