Why accidents are not reported in News Papers

According to MOI data almost one person is killed daily in road accidents in Qatar. Why is this not reported in News Papers (other than some special cases)? I think the reporting with photographs of vehicles involved (of cause by protecting the privacy) will caution other drivers and will help in maintaining road safety.

But I agree, they should provide more coverage of the really horrific accidents.

I also think it would be useful to publish weekly/monthly stats of road accidents (injured-vs-dead, age groups, gender, nationality, etc.). Again -- just to keep it in the public's eye and on their mind.

But if you notice, newspapers here don't like publishing news that in any way causes Qatar to appear negatively. So we don't hear much about the assaults and rapes and break-ins that happen. I find it funny because the lack of news reporting simply fuels the community gossip mill here, and then the authorities get all out of sorts that people subscribe to so much misinformation. But if they don't report on events, people will resort to relying upon word of mouth for their news about what is REALLY happening in the country.

But they exhibit these vehicles involved in accidents in traffic awareness campains. So why no photos in news papers

there's A LOT happening in this town that one doesn't read about in the newspapers mate & if the person/people in question are powerful enough,a thread like this on QL first stops accepting further comments & then just disappears alltogether...right mods? *wink*!!

you need a separate paper and troop of reporters to report just 'accidents in Qatar'.

Its simple, they dont want other reckless driver to be aware of the accident so they will follow the same faith, they will die on the road due to their stupidity...

indigo_res i agree with you that the newspapers should publish daily photos from car accidents (the most serious ones). Maybe it will save some lives out there.

I am sure that 25 accident pictures a day in the newspaper would get seriously boring after a while and it would make the newspaper 15 inches thick.

I am not sure how it is the MOI's responsibility to report daily accidents in the newspaper.
