Love and Respect for Qatar?

Went for a walk this morning in the parking area up from the corniche as it's a nice open space to walk the dog (and yes, I do pick up after her). Unfortunately, it was obvious that some who attended the National Day activities yesterday weren't so considerate.

Bags from restaurants, styrofoam cups, and even a dirty diaper - disgusting.

However, to be fair, there didn't seem to be any trash receptacles either.

But why can't people take their trash home or dispose of it responsibly? A lot of this debris isn't biodegradable, all of it is unsightly, the leftover food attracts rodents and flies, and a lot of it will be blown into the water on the corniche for all of those who like to take their exercise (not to mention visitors to Qatar) to see.

If you love and/or respect Qatar (and you should do either one or the other if it's your home and providing you with an income) then help keep it clean. Just pick up your own trash, that's a good start.

and we have to learn how to play clean, starting with the host. It would be like father, like son kind of thing.

No where in my comments did I point a finger at any nationality - in fact, I very much doubt if the bulk of the trash was as a result of any Qatari person/family, if only because Qataris make up the minority of the population here.

This was a thread about picking up YOUR OWN trash and disposing of it responsibly, something a lot of people don't do of every nationality and ethnicity (including my countrymen)

We all need to do our bit to keep the country clean. It doesn't really take much..

Watched a small boy of indeterminate nationality throw at least 4 plastic bags into the sea while watching the parade. None around him, not the least the parents remind the kid.

Also watch an unfortunate incident where the police roughly push a group of asian bachelors trying to get into the corniche to watch the celebration, creating a mini stampede that almost crushed my wife and little boy.

In both instances I did not raise a finger or my voice to protest.

Is this the sign that I'm losing my humanity already ?

Sorry I should have clarified.

I meant Westerners are the best in respecting the laws - traffic, cleanliness and otherwise.

Hats off!

...to know that those are Westerners' trash, are they?

it happens everywhere... u know when people are enjoying they forget things they're doing. only what matters with them is they are celebrating there freedom lets give them a 1 day break to do things they wanted, for sure it will be clean soon.

My comment is not against Qataris at all, the worst litterers I have seen have not been Qatari

well in any city, after a night of celebration there is going to be trash all around.

It looks as if all these problems are peculiar only to Qatar.

All those who are griping must have never seen something like this in their lives. Hence the reason for this.

Nobody here seems to care about litter, it doesn't seem to occur to people. It's the same as seeing people feeding their tiny babies Big Macs, another thing I have had to get used to. The UK has so many faults (hence why I am here) but we are brainwashed from an early age not to litter with the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.

Sad to see dead creatures on the beach tangled up in debris from sailors as well, saw a beautiful huge sea turtle the other day.

No Love & no respect at all. Cause they (Qatari) don't know how to repect expats (Except white skin expats).

last night I saw so many kids throwing empty "silly string" and shaving cream cans in the street when they finished harassing other cars with them.

Its not an act done alone by the local for sure but by those coming from the dirtiest city in the world. A habit thats hard to eliminate.
