Netgear DG834G DSL connection
Hi,
I recently bought a Netgear wireless modem-router from Carrefour, but it does not detect the DSL signal when I plug in the DSL line. However, the DSL line works fine when I connect it to my Speedtouch modem supplied by Qtel. I have used all accessories/wires contained in the netgear box but still can't get it to detect the DSL signal. I called up Qtel but they said they can't help me configure a modem purchased outside. Would really appreciate if someone could advice me what's wrong.

Thanx for nothing Mr.Harry B - your answer was not at all helpful - I should have been dumb to have not read the installation manual - DUH!!
By the way, you don't have to be an IT guy to configure routers and for that matter most of the IT stuff these days. I am an Accountant who does most of the IT stuff myself including assembling hardware at timess - you just need to take a little interest in these stuff and be really patient. I put the question here to see if anyone could provide guidance straightaway without me having to do all the research and spend too much time on it. At the end, I did configure the router and my wireless connection myself without the help of an "IT" guy!
To be of some help to others who face a similar problem, please configure with the below settings:
User name: "S" followed by your landline number
Password: Usually "qatar12" or "123". get qel to reset yoru password if you don't remember or have forgotten
Basic Settings

Network/COnnection Type: PPPoA (PPP Over ATM)
Internet IP Address: get dynamically from ISP
Domain Name Server(DNS): get automaticallly from ISp
Network Address Transalation(NAT): Enable
ADSL Settings
-------------
Multiplexing method: LLC-BASED
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
DSL Mode: ADSL2+

Are you an IT guy? If you're not IT guy, why did u purchased the modem from the free market?
Have you tried to configure it? Read the PDF manual guide inside the CD. The link signal will be ON after you set it properly.
