I am planning to drive from Salalah to Muscat, Oman by 4WD over Eid. Can anyone help me with the following information:
- road conditions
- accommodation along the way
- is it possible to do this trip comfortably in 4 days
- any special issues or problems
- highlights along the way from Salalah to Al Ashkarah

Hi shaheka,

I specifically want to drive from Salalah to Muscat using the coast road not the inland route. Do you know if this road is bitumen or dirt for some parts?

I wanted to camp along the way on the beach if possible.

The Saudi authorities do not allow for international traffic crossing their borders these 10 days, in case you did not know!

Try to get a pass and your request will be rejected until the Eid festival days are long over...

Sorry, but I guess you have to re-plan your trip...

road conditions - Excellent Road Conditions except few Dangerous Turns (Hairpins) BE VERY CAREFUL in DRIVING THIS AREAS.

accommodation along the way - Salalah to Muscat can be completed in 10 Hours. No need for any accomodation. On extreme cases you can take a break on the road itself.

is it possible to do this trip comfortably in 4 days - Salalah to Muscat and back to salalah can be done easily in 4 days.

any special issues or problems - No special issues or problems as of I know.

highlights along the way from Salalah to Al Ashkarah - NO IDEA :).

Have a nice and pleasant trip
