Doha Here We come!!!!!

We will be arriving in Doha next weekend!!
Seems like ages but in reality the process only took a few months!! Hubby is going to work for RasGas and from what I have read on QL seems like a good company to work for.
Thanks QL for the info and the humour over these past few months, despite the cynics, you have helped us gain some valuable info about the move.
We are really looking forward to our new adventure!!
See you soon!!

Yaksbunt, just google unlock codes for .... Whatever phone you get. Usually you have to pay about $10 Canadian to get it. Then just follow their directions, it's dead easy.

Hey Olive thanks for the info...not sure what the crack code is though...

Yaksbunt, buy a phone from Rogers (cause you need the SIM Card) in Canada and get the crack code for it. When you get here just crack it and use a Q-Tel sim. I buy new phones when I'm home in Canada every summer (I'm rough on the bloody things) and that's what I do.

Yaksbunt,

I'm on my way from land of the beaver and moose too. I hear it's a good idea to take a voip phone from here with you. Since you still have a few days, you'd better get one soon with a number local to where you have family in Canada, so you can keep in touch with them. You can even switch you current home or cell phone number to it if you haven't cancelled it yet.

The snow did already fall where I am but we're back in double digits again this week.

We are flying from Canada with Etihad airlines - I have never heard of them before - anyone else traveled long haul with them?

Is it worth buying a Blackberry or an I-phone here or should I just wait til I get to Doha?

Any helpful hints are always welcome!

no need to bring too much.........

as my dad working in qatar gas, and we live inside the community........i duno where they will place u, but they will give you house.

as far as i can see the new building size is kinda small........even my neighbour who moved to the new house got problem with the rest of the furniture tht cant fit in the house.

beside it would b better only bring important things, cos the furniture are plenty u can buy here, cos doha has a complete store and malls. u can go direct buy ur stuff from HOME CENTER where most ppl buy there cos of reasonable price they offer. (like wht my parent did :P)and am sure the rasgas company give the money for the furniture.

when the first time i came to doha, we only bring clothes and nothing else. and then when we move to bigger house, we start to buy furniture here and according to my parents tht the company gave the money for tht.

so better keep all ur furniture back home and safe yourself from the trouble thinking if any fragile stuff got damage before u place it in ur new house.

good luck and hope u like doha.........
