recent assault at Aspire

Trying to get more info on a story I heard about an assult on a woman at Aspire that happened last week.

I heard it involved an American woman (whose husband works for one of the big oil companies), that she was coming out of Aspire after a workout, heading to her car when she was surrounded by about 20 Arab male youths (didn't hear if they were locals or expats). They were yelling things at her, spitting on her, shoving her around, etc.
She lowered her head and slowly made her way through the crowd of boys to her car, got inside, and locked the doors. The boys then began kicking her vehicle, pounding on it, etc. The woman was able to slowly back out of the parking lot and leave the scene.
Heard the car is damaged, she's got visible marks on her body from the assult, and that they've gotten the embassy involved in the matter.

Has anyone heard about this? I've never gone to Aspire but don't they have security/security cameras there? I've had guys here harrass me before (follow my car, try to cop a feel at a party, etc.) but nothing like this.

Dear Ummjake

well, Qatar is getting HOT in this kind of news, sorry to heard what happen to you, but again, all you need to do is be carefull, dress well, try to park your car very close to the exit, this is the only thing can help you.

i have seen many young arab's behind the girls, saying and even harrsing the women's, BUT the ugly truth is

NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO THEM,

:(

true or not, this things happen around the world. it would be better to let the persons/people invloved go to the concerned authorities to investigate this matter. as for us... we should try to take extra care next time and be vigilant

to be honest, it was quite unpleasant every time when I was leaving Aspire. EVERY TIME there were some young guys (either single or small groups) not too far from the entrance of the WOMEN club. I could feel and was under impression that they are chasing the girls, and tried to pass by them as quick as possible, preferably gathered with some other girls... quite unpleasant experience.. thanks God, I quit Aspire, didn't like their madly overcrowded classes anyway..

The incident is under investigation by the American Embassy. Whether or not it is true I can't personally say but having walked every day from the women's entrance to my car I certainly find it plausible.

GodFather.

won't be surprised. But she must have done some thing to attract their attention or provoke them. But is very hard to believe...

In Aspire , there are more security personnel than visitors..no way i can believe this..

A mob attack of this kind (if true) could be something personal too.

Ummjake, i know you haven't seen it yourself & just trying to confirm.

This is a not easy for me to believe as I am regular to Aspire Gym as well as the Jogging Track & haven't heard anything similar.

Please also note that there are several Surveillance Cameras all around the Aspire & moreover Himaya Security are Patrolling the area round the clock. Any such yelling or misbehaviour is difficult to hide.

Still, I leave space for exceptional case.
