does o2 phones work in doha?

Heeey.
Does anyone know if my o2 phone will work in doha?
Ive been in doha lately and found the prices of phones through the roof and want to bring a phone from england.
If anyone does know a phone that i can buy in england please say :)
Or if anyone knows where i can get a phone unlocked when i go back to doha please say.

You go to the mobile phone souq, loads of places there to unlock yer phone.

I have a Nokia that was on an o2 contract which doesn't work here :-(

Just make sure as the others have said, to SIM unlock the device. I have a blackberry which is from O2 and it works here just fine..

Yup - mine works here - just make sure that your phone from O2 is unlocked - think most of them are unlocked except for the iPhone which is locked to O2.

Yes they do. What make phone is it. I have a Sony Ericsson that I bought on contract back in the UK and is works perfectly with the local mobile company..
