Would this salary be enough?

Hi, there!
I am coming to Qatar on a 10.000 (ryals) salary. Accomodation is provided. What is this money enough for? Can I save anything? I don't go out often?
Also, how do I take my money out of this country? Is there western union, etc?
How much would my food (modest once a day) and internet connection cost?
Any gym facilties in the city?
I have never lived in this part of the world before. So any meaningful peice of avice would be greatly appreciated.
The salaries between Gulf countries and western economies can be, on an average, about 10% more but the advantage of not paying any taxes is significant. For example, if you live in the UK, Canada or Australia, this alone can add 25-35% of your take home amount! Plus, a mandatory 15% lump sum of the expatriate’s yearly salary is paid on departure if the person has worked for more than 2 years in the emirates. I Thank JID for helping me in my career move to Dubai. Their advice has been really helpful and their referrals were great. Their services are excellent and highly recommendable.

With your accommodation paid for, you should be a bit like me. I rent a car (Honda City) for QR 1,800 a month, fuel is ridiculously cheap, it costs me QR 26 to fill an empty tank. I eat out every day at a Sri Lankan restaurant in Abu Hamour for just QR 8 a meal, which always fills me up, and I am a big bloke. Burger King, Mc Donalds, KFC etc. are all about QR 20 for a meal including fries and a drink. Milk is about QR 3 for 500ml, cans of Coke, 7UP, Pepsi etc QR 1 for a can, chocolate is too cheap for my health, and if you smoke you are going to be landed because they are so cheap I don’t even pay attention to how much they cost. Clothes are about the same cost as back home in the UK.
Laundry costs me about QR 20 a week.
I use Skype to talk to home which works really well, but mobile phones are very well priced, with some great international promotions.
You should live to a very high standard, and be able to send loads back home.

Actually the biggest question is how big is your responsibility back home??
Maybe the 6500 QR will not be enough..think about that as well other wise you will not be in a good working condition if you are not satisfied from what you are getting with.
accommodation is the single biggest expenditure here
if it's taken care of, you can live reasonably comfortably provided you are single
ITS GOOD TO WORK 1-2 YEARS ONLY
with 10,000 alone & with your life style you can make some savings easily here in Qatar.
Since they take care of your accomodation that would be nice, since rentals are really costing here !
For your transportations inside Doha, the capital, Taxi's are really Expensive,.. but there are classy busses travelling everywhere; you can use, OR your company will provide you a car & a guide :D
Western Union is available
Plenty of Gyms are available,.. fancy & low class :D
you will find many restaurants from all countries at your choice ;)
Alot of Nationalities can be found in qatar which would be easily noticed,... friendly people most of them.
Country Authorities are Helpfull.
BUT !!
The weather here is really bad if you work outdoors !
Hot Climate & Really Humid weather .
if you work indoors then you wont notice this feature only passing from the car to the office or mall :D
Good Luck
10,000 riyals is enough for a single person. you should be well off here. And dont worry about sending money back home. There are many remittance agency through which u can send. I think Western Union is also available here.
And about Gym..ofcourse there are many gyms in Qatar.
The international banks dont live up to their international standards here, you are better off with local banks such as commercialbank qatar.

Hi, thanks for the replies. Are there any international or foreign banks in Doha, like Citibank for example?
if you are alone...it's ok.
ask again regarding:
- medical insurance;
- transport allowance;
- N.O.C. if you want to change your job later;
- how long it's the probation period;
PS:
What is the name of the school/sponsor?
If you dont have any other choice ,,then accept it..you will save at least 6500QR
