So, I have never been in a Mosque. The ones shown look HUGE. I thought folks just went in them to pray. What else goes on, or are there just a freaking LOT of people praying at once? Do they have classes or community things? Voting stations? Food banks? What goes on in there?
Thank you so much for sharing those-most were so beautiful. My daughter is going into graphic design and I am hoping that much of the art we are seeing these days will find its way into her 'style' or whatever.
I really loved the 2nd one. It reminds me of some of the stonework in Florence, Italy. Takes your breath away. I definitely plan to visit Jordan, and now there is another place on my list!
The last one was a bit too Vegas for me, but Vegas is even fun for a little while. (Til I spend my $40 limit per trip!)

1st one is Masjid Al Haram, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, any MUSLIM even when woken up in middle of deep sleep would recognize that.
The Blue Mosque should be in there....perhaps even the AyaSofya, though it isn't exactly a mosque
The Smarkand mosque it is a humble expression of that era. Very nice place.
Last picture Is located in Ankara, turkey.
Be careful for QL long list of names, they are embossed into my toilet tissue roll.

For years the Soviet regime had it close and neglected.
Know it is a functional mosque.
