Mushrib was suppose to be Electrical market of qatar..

there are more than 55 dealers/dristributors/retailers in that small area....

They all are given shops at Al Wakra... Barwa's new project for what they are loosing in Mushrib..

They (authorities) say .. it is old and heart of the city area.... it should be re-constructed in a better way.....

I miss all the hot chicken places that used to be near the Rydges hotel :(

Doha won't seem the same when they demolish these old areas.

Didn't the government by the real estate portfolios from the banks? Something like that??

By noorebasher• 8 Sep 2009 15:01

I been with many Realestate sales reps, the landlord says ' keep the flats vacant but dont minimize the rent' :) so they keep the flats vacant and then demolish and built again :) cool

It's like asking if the millions being spent on the current airport is a waste since it will be demolished in a few years when the new(er) airport is ready.

The only trouble with having lots of money slushing around an economy is the risk of inflation, but thankfully Qatar has the NOC to prevent people from getting new jobs with higher salaries. If they got rid of the NOC rule there would almost certainly be a wages spiral and inflation would be out of control.

don't worry about money with Qatar... they have a lotttttttt....they can demolish and make a new one and again demolish it to make another.. no problem...

I think that this is good for every body... All the people will have work and the money is circulating, this is good for all people and country.

Regardless for the rents.

That would be true Jack, if there was a shortage of buildings.

However in Doha that is not the case. Some reports put the amount of vacant apartments (not including villas) at 15,000.

So knocking down a building here and there wouldn't do much to alter the supply/demand dynamic.

i would agree with Fubar.. However, I do not think that the rents in the new buildings would be cheap.

More buildings = cheaper rents...now isnt that good?

Thus ...more jobs and cheaper rents...

Building and demolishing creates jobs.

Job creation is good for the economy.

It's a good thing.
