is it possible to bring my family here on family residence visa and not as family visit visa? how much is the cost of a family residence visa? if we are lucky to be granted, is there a validity period, i mean should my family be here in a month's time once we get the visa?

Yes you can get a famiy resident Visa...after you get it 1 week your wife will be here..
