Rasgas Questions

By moonbabie

My husband received a offer from Rasgas today. It would be 600USD, 15 days of unpaid leave every 6 months with roundtrip tickets for both of us. Company car and living arrangements provided. Is this a decent offer, and can we save some money on this salary. Also, are the living arrangements nice?

I wish to work also and I have my Master degree in Social work will I easily find employment. Thank you so much, I may have more questions when I think of them. This is a big life move for us.

check with an American tax expert.

I don't know if RasGas has a list of them for you or not,,,or do your own search for one.

I am Canadian, and like any other (British) Commonwealth country, if we are gone form our home country for more than 2 years we can argue, and most often, escape taxes on our overseas income..

"Tax-free" just means you don't have to pay income tax in Qatar. You will owe federal, state and local taxes back in the US. You MAY qualify for an overseas earned income tax exemption of the first $87,500.

So are you saying if we come to live in Qatar for a certain time period our income will be tax. Will it all be tax or a certain portion. Also, what is a good offer from RasGas

I didn;t see above where you already answered some of my questions...

RasGas are offering him the absolute minimum,,,especially, as Americans, that you are taxed on your income here..

600 USD per day is the minimum he should be getting. I fthey won't up the per diem, then ask for the leave days to be paid,,,,housing is usually good for US citizens with RasGas,,,schools, vehicles fine as well.

Is he getting paid the 600 for 7 days a week?? if so then thats a bit better.

$600.00 per day?

Who gives the wage in daily values? Are you sure it's not $600.00USD per week?

If it's $600.00 per day, and he works 5 days a week. Then it's a pretty awesome offer. But I am highly sceptical that it is a daily amount.

Please forgive me but still give me some guidance. I just got my Master's degree so I don't want to put my career on the back burner if this isn't a good offer.

On a side note if you were going to ignore the decimal point, that would be sixty thousand dollars per month, not 6 thousand dollars lol.

60000 - sixTY thousand dollars.

$60000.00 - sixty thousand dollars

6000 - six thousand dollars

$6000.00 - six thousand dollars

600 - six hundred dollars

$600.00 - six hundred dollars

No she didn't

She reaffirmed 600USD

$600.00 = 600 dollars and 0 cents.

but i'm sure, that atleast RasGas, will not offer to an experienced person, 600USD/Month, as she revised as 60000USD/Month, and its really dashing.

To be honest, if I understood correctly the $600 will be for 15 days work very month?

Even so its rather insufficient, unless you intend on living home on carrots then fine, other than that Qatar can be quite expensive.

If you plan to also work then its better. A good job would be teaching students at home, this way your car would come in handy and the pay is good when you deliver quality teaching, I know I pay a fortune on my childrens after school tuition ;)

If you are from the US like your profile says, then no it is a bad offer. Would you be able to live on $600 per month in the US? Prices of things can be the same, if not more, in Qatar. You will barely be able to live, let alone save on this amount.

Yallah

Its a handsome package per month.

don't miss tyme.

I think should be US$ 600 per day!!! Anyway depend of the qualification and the experience's year of your husband; for an engineer 600 looks smaller so keep in mind that we engineers expatriate working for Rasgas or Qatargas got more of US$ 600 per day plus the monthly allowances as living, transportation, school, airfare, housing and sometimes completion bonus.

You can find easily job in Doha. Feel free to ask more questions in QL.

Good luck and tell your hubby to ask for better package.
