net salary and housing

Hi guys,

with all those international oil companies in Doha I have a questions: many european companies send employees over. In other countries and with some companies these employees usually get a net salary based on what they'd get at the companies headquarter. But what about Qatar? Considering the rents are so high I can see a family spending all the income on housing alone.

Does anyone know how this is handled?

How this is handled? Get your employer to fork over as much as possible for housing rent and pray you find a landlord who will not ask for your children in addition to an exhorbitant rent. Rents are still an extortionate expense here in Qatar. Empty properties galore exist, but too many people can afford to sit on them at the moment. And most important - never, ever deal with any real estate agent here in the country. The most forsaken, thieving bunch here in business. Will rape you for all your worth.

You must not accept any offer if the company does not provide the housing, unless you make 50.000 or more per month!

normally the employer will pay for housing or provide housing for you,, other wise like you said it's to much to pay for housing out of your own pocket
