Playschool

Dear Group,

I am trying to get an expert opining from Qatar Living regarding playschools. I am searching for a play school for my two and a half years old son. Searching yielded no results, as most of the nurseries are in unorganized sector with no name or signboards. I feel that they operate without any proper Government accreditations, that is the reason why they cannot advertise in Marhaba or leading newspapers. There is a strong need for play schools in Doha for expatriates like us. I visited one or two places at the advice of my colleagues. I found 40 to fifty tiny tots cramped in a small room. Some babies are have running noses or crying as they don’t understand what they are being taught. Nursery and playschool are entirely two different concepts. Play school grooms a baby to go to nursery (LKG or UKG). They need instructions through interactions not alphabets or nursery rhymes. Classical example of this could be Baby Einsteen or Baby blinks CD’s available at Jareer Book store. It is the lack of trained teachers in this area. I am raising this issue through this forum because of the wide coverage and an opportunity for discussion with the right target audience. We have to give right training to our kids. In most of the Indian families of Doha, both the parents will be working and it is these playschools we rely on developing of our kid’s behavior. Crèche should be hygienic and not cramping too many kids into a small room of villa or apartment, there should be ample space and toys along with trained teachers and support staff.

I am submitting my thoughts for open discussion and request readers to contribute the contact details of good crèches in Doha, Qatar.

Thanking you,
Regards,
Hari

to read that you feel "it is these playschools we rely on developing of our kid’s behavior". It's my conviction that this is the role of the parents. Abdication of that responsibility has been the cause of many problems in the UK.

playschools and you come to this conclusion? You need to get out more. There are some highly recommended schools here in Doha as Novita points out. Please visit them and then maybe you will have a change of opinion.

Which play school did you visit? Have you been to Starfish Lane, Tots Corner, CESK, Busy Bees, Apple Tree, Elder Tree, etc etc.
