Girls may lose their Virginity through sports

It seems that sports should be forbidden for unmarried women in Saudi because… “Football and basketball are sports that require a lot of movement and jumping,” Sheikh Abdullah al-Maneea, member of the official Supreme Council of Religious Scholars, said in a religious opinion published in Okaz newspaper.

He said such excessive movement may harm girls who are still virgins, possibly causing them to lose their virginity.
How stupid? Maybe someone should inform the Sheikh, that technically speaking one loses her virginity only through sexual intercourse, not by playing a game or two of basketball.

By doing this…the result is high rates of diabetes and even bone frailty among women, which the Ministry of Health says it wants to combat. Wonder how they attain it by closing down more gyms because they are not licensed….Because the government don’t want to create a licensing board for female gyms, although there is one for men. Sure, they want to eliminate health issues as long as women remain covered up and at home. The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce has tried for 3 years to get the government to establish some means of licensing female gyms, but was not successful.

It would be ridiculous if it wasn’t for the fact that these will adversely affect women in many ways. Then again, physical education is banned in public schools in Saudi. So why should they approve of gyms?

there are numerous reasons that a female can lose her virginity so easily. In 21st century, losing virginity shouldn't be an issue anymore as it was few decades before.

Sadly still in major parts of Asia, our elders still believe in virginity thing and they do see for white sheets with blood. If they see the blood they are HAPPY otherwise they will create false rumours about that girl & starts doubting her character and hating her too.

I don't understand what the problem is. How can women even be playing sport if they are doing the right thing and staying inside their houses and covering up? I think they should ban all women's schools too, I mean, why would a woman need an education when the men are clearly the more important sex?

I wish people would boycott Saudi, but I guess people think there are more important things than the rights of others.

The Saudi guyz are not known to have a good command on English...

It is important to understand what they mean to say rather what they say in actual....

VIRGINITY word may not be used the way it is interpreted and understood by majority......

Jus adding another point of view....

The science behind it is explained in a very detailed manner already so no use repeating the same..lol

Virginity is the state of being a virgin (never had sexual intercourse).

What can happen, when a girl does extensive physical exercises like horse riding, gymnastics etc. is that the hymen stretches or is torn. As it does when she is penetrated for the first time. But that is only a physical effect and not the definition of 'virginity'.

Horse riding is a killer for tearing the hymen and is really popular amongst girls and women.

For a long time, it was believed that an intact hymen was evidence of a girl's virginity, as the hymen posed a barrier to sexual intercourse.

Some girls who are still virgins have no hymen at all.

Also there have been some cases in which girls who have had several sexual intercources had an intact Hymen. This condition is also called as elastic hymen. A minor surgical procedure should remove the hymen is such cases as elastic hymens sometimes do cause pain during sexual intercourse.

Girls who do have a hymen can break their hymen in a number of differerent ways, many times without even knowing it.

Some of the non-sexual ways in which a hymen will tear are:

1. Through an accident or injury.

2. Horseback riding, bicycling, high jumping, gymnastics or similar sports.

3. Insertion of finger or instrument by doctor during pelvic exam.

4. Tampon insertion.

etc..

While the presence of a hymen indicates virginity, the absence of one is definately not a proof a girl is not a virgin.

I think that everytime someone posts something from Saudi, people yell Women's rights. It is not only them that think that way. Many cultures also view an intact hymen as a sign of true virginity. I think a lot of people protest because they feel other cultures should be like their culture. It is kind of the same way people over here watch cops or girls gone wild and think all Western women are wild and promiscous.

Within the context of this article and the culture in Saudi, i think that the easiest way of them determining "virginity" is the hymen..

I wonder what he thinks a reasonable amount of movement would be...

But perhaps he's right. Better Saudi women get used to 'no excessive movement' as it will better prepare them for a life being married to Saudi men such as the moron quoted in the article above.

Perhaps the girls should just get their exercise at the gym if they aren't allowed to play sport.

Wait a minute... what's that???

Yes, it's the sound of Women's Rights in Saudi being trampled by clerics:

Saudi women face gyms ban

Action taken to shut down unlicensed, all-women fitness clubs, condemned as 'shameless' by Saudi Arabia's clerics

Saudi women could see their private sports clubs and gyms closed down because the government seems likely to agree licensing of the clubs for men only.

But news of the likely shutdown of dozens of female-only gyms came as a government official suggested that women might be allowed to vote in municipal elections, although they would still be barred from running for office.

With the sexes strictly separated in public in the conservative kingdom, the two reports illustrate the slow and fitful nature of the progress made since the octogenarian King Abdullah instigated reforms three years ago.

This year the government appointed its first woman as deputy minister to run a department for female students. But women are still banned from driving and they face many other restrictions. They are required to have compulsory guardianship by a male.

The whole thing is just so ignorant and so wrong. I have no issue with the idea of remaining a virgin, if you choose to, but telling a woman she can lose it through sports, as if she’s having sex with a basketball is supremely idiotic.

Guess he is not aware of the fact that simple surgery can correct this and no one need ever know after if it was genuine or not.

I think they are confused about a woman's hymen and automatically link it to "virginity"

quote "But it is scientific fact that the hymen can be separated for reasons quite unconnected to sexual intercourse. It can separate when the body is stretched strenuously, as in athletics; it can be separated by inserting a tampon during menstruation or through masturbation; and sometimes it is separated for no apparent reason."

broken means you're 'not a virgin'.

I had a Qatari female friend explain that to me years ago, that THAT'S why women here don't use tampons (or go see the gynecologist before marriage), because it makes you NOT a virgin. It took me a long time to try and explain to her that you only lose you 'virginity' by having sex...

Can I get an "Amen" from all the ladies who are blessed to come from countries that aren't trapped in the Dark Ages?
