Well amazing some thing like this does make it to the press even if the culprits would never imagine it been printed in their own countries

I agree with what you say well put girl :)

Beeseh - check the article link above

and then check the book link...the author's forthcoming publication may be of interest....one of the items being that Western intervention has little impact in the Middle East. You must be a lot tougher than me because i couldn't live somewhere I really didn't like

but sad to say there is torture in every country

Thanks for the link, engr2002.

I can't help but find it amusing that after Dubai spent a fortune putting iconic PR firm Finsbury on a retainer to manage its image in the economic meltdown, the UAE, and by extension Dubai, now has to cope with this scandal.

This story will get much more traction than any stories about ex-pats leaving or corporate financial troubles.

It tells me not to look away when unjust things happen. It teaches me humanity. Things that might be completely strange to you though...

Not sure where you're from but from your statement I understood: should you get stoned one day I shall buy tickets for the first row and bring some popcorn? It is also my business when it comes to torturing and killing ppl for some sick kind of fun. That is what my God teaches me. Maybe yours tells you to be ignorant and not consider everybody an equal human being.

Alexa, I am against such practices. If someone commits a crime, punish them. Do not torture. Do not tape it. Do not show it. And most of all if your torture practices are discovered do not try to talk it nice by stating it's in accordance with the local law. I'm not on the side of the US either, they did/do the same. But why is it that if the same happened in most western countries heads would fall in the government and ppl would go to jail - regardless of what family they are from?

If such things are considered normal and legal in a country that says a lot about the ppl living there, doesn't it?

how cruel ...terrible ... i couldn't even watch the video ... i just cant believe such things happen ..

Alexa, I know there is no win-win solution for this problem but hopefully soon enough we won't need their gas/oil that much. God will punish them for all this I'm sure. As for me, even while living in Doha I only buy western products (taking care of where it was produced by which company) and I'd never spend a cent on holidays in their countries. I work there so I take their money, I'm trying not to give back anything. And what the West can do? Maybe they could say what they think of it and not smile at them. That would be enough to start with...

Why do I not wonder that this is normal here? Oh yea, because the locals think they are God and nobody dares to kick their behinds when they violate ALL HUMAN RIGHTS! Why doesn't anybody care that maids are being raped in Qatar? That children are executed in Iran and other Islamic countries? Is the West really that coward?
