The slumdog star Rubina is now sponsored by a Qatar based business man.

MUMBAI: Rubina, who acted in Oscar-winning film `Slumdog Millionaire,' finally got support to help her achieve her dream. A member of a local trust
visited her residence and told her father that he would sponsor her education.

Rubina stays in a Bandra slum along with her father and stepmother. She is attending a local school and wanted to learn acting to explore her future in the film industry.

A Qatar-based NRI businessman, who is associated with local trust Anjuman Ittehadul Mustaqeem, visited Rubina on Tuesday morning and informed her father Rafiq about the trust's intention.

The businessman Abdul Rehman Vanoo said, "I watched on TV that her father was trying to sell her to an Arab couple. I don't know how true this is but I feel that the girl must be having problems because of all the developments.'' According to Vanoo, he believes in her talent and that is why he decided to help her achieve her dream. "We will sponsor her education no matter how expensive it will be.''

He also provided the family with a cover for their roof before the monsoon. Rafiq thanked Vanoo for his support but said he was unhappy with the way he had been portrayed by the media.

Exactly my thoughts Brit...

They also offered her a Flat... even a builder from my place gave her an apartment worth Rs.1.5 M which I saw in the TV…all these might take time to materialize...

I am confused..

The Film company actually set up an educational trust fund for the children.. So what is the need for this trader to step in ?

The girl and her family are still living in a bathroom sized one room.

The education fund that has been set up for Rubina (by the film co.) will be given to her only when she turns 18.

Good news for her now as she will be able to complete her education. Also she will get a new home soon, with all the help and efforts of that NRI

Everything gonna be alright!!!

What education? What career?

What a great opportunity for a little girl with a dream. With this sponsorship, she will be able to get a decent education with interest in acting. Dreams do come true.

ummmm that doesn't sound true at all.

The film company that originally emplyed Rubina has set her up with a trust fund and has paid all her school commitment fee's until she is an adult. I believe they also set her and her family up in a new house.

No Qatari was involved.
