Pre-requisites for the Move from UAE to Qatar

Hi everyone, I was given a checklist of documents to be prepared before my move to Qatar from UAE. Now, i understand that every country has their regulations, however in this post i would like you to be informed of addresses and formality for obtaining Personal Clearance Certificate (PCC)+ attestation.

Attestation: Your education certificate should be attested by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE. I guess everyone working here will be having the same. You will have to go to Qatar consulate to get the certificate attested as well. Now, as per information on the internet, qatar embassy exists in Jaffalia area (behind DNRD, Dubai). It took me an hour and lot of driving to figure out that the Qatar consulate has moved out of Jaffalia. The new location is in the consulate area, Bur Dubai. It is right next to Saudi Consulate, opposite Lebanon consulate, and a walkable distance from Indian, Yemen, Pakistani and Egyptian consulates. Submit the documents in the morning, and they will give you the attested one by 1pm (or so). Fees: 21 AED / document

PCC: I am an Indian national, and require PCC as per the HR. I was informed by Indian consulate that I need to obtain local PCC at first. Well, depending on your area, you need to go to closest police station. For eg, Deira would be Muraqabat, and so on. I was told to go to Al Barsha police station. Unfortuntely, the police station here (which is almost non-existent) informed me to go to Bur Dubai police station. This is just after DNRD Dubai, near Trade Center round about. Anyhow, there i was asked to go to another police station at Port Rashid as Bur Dubai station caters only for UAE requirement. Anyhow, route to Port Rashid Police station. Take the right from Bur Dubai Police station (Trade Center r/a, towards Satwa). Continue until you reach Jumeirah road. Turn right on Beach road (towards Dry Docks / Port Rashid). Keep driving past 2 signals and you would see Dubai Driving School on your right side. Just after the driving school is the police station. I was fortunate to be attended by a polite UAE lady. She actually filled up the form for me in Arabic and pointed me to the door where I had to submit the docs. Well, I hope you know a little bit of arabic, as it will help you there. I went to the room to submit the documents, got a slip, and the officer asked me to pay the fees next door. After paying the fees, come back to the same officer and he will handover the receipt + the application for PCC. BTW, you require 2 passport size photo, original passport, 1 passport copy and 110 AED. Next, they guide you to go for fingerprinting. My EIDA card was of no use, so dont even bother using it. I went through the fingerprint procedure and was told that the PCC will be provided to me by next week. Fair enough, atleast I can go and collect it personally.

Process after obtaining local PCC (For Indian Consulate): Get it attested by Qatar consulate, prepare a copy, along with application form (which i obtained from indian consulate) and go to empost office. As per the officials, if my passport is issued in Dubai, I should receive the Indian PCC within 1 week from submission. If passport is issued from outside Dubai, then it would take 40 working days (sigh!!!). I am yet to initiate this process, however it would give an idea to all the QLers who require certain documents from UAE. I shall keep this thread updated as and when there is progress on documentation. Hope it was useful to you.

Hi everyone. Finally completed the entire process. Just to keep you informed about obtaining PCC from Indian consulate. Ensure that your UAE PCC is in English. I made a mistake and asked the police for arabic (since i thought it's required for another GCC country). Alas, that mistake costed me running around from one corner to another and get the PCC legally translated to english. Now, once you have obtained UAE PCC, go to Indian consulate (or download the forms) and submit along with english translation to empost. I was advised to go to Deira empost office. After submitting the documents, go to Indian consulate after two days and meet the first secretary alongwith photocopy of the empost receipt. Once the document is received by the first secretary, keep an eye on empost website (www.ipavsc.com). Although the status for my application was still "posted", the passport was received by them within one working day (along with PCC). Keep calling them and confirm about the receipt of passport. I had to go personally to collect the passport, as I was in a hurry and had to plan my travel this friday. Well, if things move smoothly then usually passport is received in 5 working days. Since my passport was issued from Dubai, it wasn't a big hassle.

Now, preparing to travel this friday and going through the other formalities in Qatar. I guess looking out for an accommodation initially will be the task, and then settling in. Keep an eye open for a studio / 1 bedroom in dafna / west bay area and help me out if possible. My next post perhaps should be from Qatar.

Just went through everything you described other than I got a PCC from the main Police CID HQ near the Dubai airport. Frustrating process. Welcome to Doha. More fun lies ahead getting you Residence Visa processed. Good luck.
