.Passenger lands plane in Fla. after pilot dies
– A passenger landed a twin-engine plane in Florida after the pilot died in flight with a total of six people on board.
Federal Aviation Administration officials say the pilot died after takeoff from an airport in Naples on Sunday. It was on autopilot and climbing toward 10,000 feet when the pilot died.
The passenger who took over is licensed for single-engine planes but isn't certified to fly the larger King Air craft.
An air traffic controller helped the passenger down by calling a friend in Connecticut who knows the King Air plane and relaying instructions. The plane landed safely at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.
The plane had been headed to Jackson, Miss. The names of the pilot and passengers have not been released.

Do you think you can handle emergencies like this?
"Do you think you can handle emergencies like this?"
oh boy. that statement just made Microsoft's Flight Simulator X sell like hot cakes.

Yes, given their own inclination, after reaching stall speed an aircraft will come down nose-first - very fast!
Mandi
They all come down, don't they?
Yeah, airplanes are a piece of cake to fly - tell me how easy it is to land after the first time you've tried it!
Mandi
is the Autopilot engage switch. make sure it lights up. :)

Me too a great fan of Air Crash investigation. So, if the Air traffic controller and ground staff give cut to cut directions , I think I could do it.....
Everything gonna be alright!!!
Nope. I hope there's no structures around when landing the plane
Sure agree with you there honey, wow what a place. Thanks for being nice.
its more dangerous to drive in the streets of Qatar than land a twin engine aircraft. ;)

Easy peasy. I can do that whislt powdering my face. (Seriously, are you kidding, I'll pee in my pants.)
to read and follow instructions you'll be fine ;)
many people think that advance aircrafts like King Air, Boeing, Airbus, Etc.. is very hard to fly. but actually it's not :) assuming that there's no major fault on the aircraft and the weather is clear. you can actually sleep your way to landing ;)
unless of course if you're color blind!. then you'll be in big BIG trouble LOL
