IPL to be held outside India.

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held outside India due to security concerns, BCCI President Shashank Manohar said on Sunday in a press conference.

"Due to the Government's attitude that they can't provide us with proper security, especially in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, we have moved the IPL out of India," Manohar said.

It is believed that South Africa and England are being considered, however New Zealand is also an option. Manohar said the new venues will be decided in the next two-three days.

New Zealand and England are being considered as an alternative because their domestic sports season has come to an end. South Africa is the most likely host because their stadiums are the best for IPL matches.

South Africa is even willing to host IPL in their country, sources added.

Indian viewers will be able to watch the matches at 1600 hrs IST and 2000 hrs IST, Manohar said and added that there will be no change in the IPL dates or format.

i don't not blame the govt for not providing security...they say that the IPL generates a revenue of 2billion usd. The organising commitie can spend some of this amount and arrange their own security.

Aana free, jaana free,

Pakde gaye tho khana free.

its sad its going out. But then again u have to uderstand its the players safety that matter in such cases. Irrelevant of who has created the terror strikes earlier, the only question that comes to the forefront is " were they able to carry out the strikes successfully ? ". The answer to which is a big YES. The terrorist struck and caused damages in INDIA as well as PAKISTAN. Hence both coutries can be struck again. Why simply put the players at risk. Atleast the security forces of the respective countries can concentrate on protecting their people than use the resources on players.

No need to point fingers at anybody. This is a good decision as far as the players lives are concerned.

This is unbelievable.....The attack happened in Pakistan...but decision making happens elsewhere...

The only sport by which India was earning lots of money is going out of India.....

ie it might never be held in India again!!!!

There will be no upgraded stadiums...no facilities....all will happen outside India....really sad!!!

In fact England and Australia were crying from a long time of loosing revenue & power politics to India.....the tug of war started with Malcom Speed & ICC world cup.

I cant understand how other venues can be safer....

IPL is the split group from ICC. And ICC had created a lot of troubles and tried its maximum from IPL forming....Now it seems that they have succeeded in their policy of not making it play in India....

Also check the Ambush marketing clause that ICC had brought in to rein in the Indian Players and the controversy it erupted....almost threatening the World Cup:

This is one example how Terrorism is used to change the course of things....
