Describe the suspect.

If you ever get into a hit and run accident with a Qatari and are asked by police to describe the suspect what would happen if you had to say: "He was driving a white Toyota Landcruiser, wore a white dish-dash with head gear and was using a hands-free mobile mic."? What chance of catching the guy?

..I think not every Qatari wear thoupe or driving a Land Cruiser. Maybe the police officer will just give you Panadol for your headache, thinking you will have chance to catch the guy. :)

The number of Qataris is around 250,000. You can get a nice number from the latest IPO, and the next re-count will be for vodafone.

I'm glad you're happy and have seen just and professional behavior by the police.

I do love positive energy..:)

Just popped into this thread to say, I must have met the police officer that helped you today.

Was at Landmark early evening and saw two coppers issuing fines to some men who had parked in a disabled parking spot.

I was so happy and I congratulated them.

He was very polite and we chatted for some time about how bad the situation is re fining some of the population.

It was great to hear that after all there are Police who act like Police.

My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.

glad it worked out for you. I think it is rarity though.

Yeah, that's funny, happy. But other important data are not published. Those that deal with money!

I see Qatar as transparent in some areas but not other. For example, education statistics are stunning indicators of the very low performance level of students in schools, but published with no manipulation.

"Unsubstantial"? Yes, even the figures for 2006 are "estimated".

You are right, happy. For basic information I also use the Factbook. However, Qatar is bad in supplying reliable statistics. They are amateurs in these things. Or - they don't want to supply the real numbers, maybe?

unsubstantial guesses on websites also?

I don't think it's a bad source for someone looking for basic info.

It's not updated, but this also is noted on their site.

happy, the CIA factbook doesn't say anything about the make-up of nationalities in Qatar. They only give a figure for the total population (which by the way is already wrong, it's about 1.3 million now).

you are making a fool of yourself.... 1 million = 1,000,000...

3,50,000 is not even a million dude..

Your comment made me laugh. But I've had a better experience (once), justice was served as should. I salute the Qatari police officer who insisted to do the right thing adamantly.

it would be our fault and nothing would be done. May as well wish them well, smile and get out of the way.
