I would like to park my jot offshore and live on it. Is this legal in Qatar? Alternatively, is there a Marina where I can park my jot (60 feet) and live on it? Anybody thought about an idea of having a houseboat community? (I dislike the dust and real estate prices in Doha and like the idea of having a swimming pool at my doorstep :).

So assuming that you do have a RP and some money in the bank.....does anyone know if it's allowed, and where you can do it?

u need a permit

and a lot of money in your bank account as a start

You will still need a residency permit.
