So I'm here. What now? Where do I go? What should I go see? Where should I look at to live? Where are some reasonable extended hotels? etc etc etc

Get a copy of qatar happening as well, or check out www.qatarhappening.com. It's an events guide, and MUCH more up to date than Marhaba, and will tell you all sorts of things to do this weekend.

As for extended hotels, I stayed at the Flamingo when I first got here- goes by the month, but is pretty nice and reasonable!

then hang out here on qatar living for a bit- it's been a life saver for so many of us who arrived here alone :) good luck!

The purpose was to get to know the lay of the land. Decide if it is worth opening a new branch out here (Construction Materials Supplier). Figure out if this is a place where I could be happy, or at least get by without to much irritation.

Figure out the market. Where would I want to live. What areas are what.

is to get a copy of Marhaba. It's a guide book to Qatar and is full of great information. A list of hotels/real estate services. Lists of restaurants, lists of things to do and see, a GREAT map. answers every questions you could ever want about living in Doha. A real life saver. I still buy one (only 20 qr) each time a new version comes out and I have been here over 5 years. You can get one at any grocer store or bookstore. My husbands office gives one to every newcomer. Ask someone at the office to help you get one. If you are in a hotel, ask the front desk, they may even have some there.
