Any Smart Architects around??????

Aisha-Taweela
By Aisha-Taweela

A firend of mine wants to build her house. We have discussed this together many times, we drew up very rough plans & layouts. Her husband has taken these lay-outs to 2 different architects and all they have been able to come up with is very boring, straight lined drawings. Not taking into account the wishes of my friend. She does not want a boring house, but one tahe will work for her & her family. Also using the space to the maximum. Do any of you know of an architect who is not Egyptian (cos that seems to be the run of the mill, and they have no idea on being creative - nothing to do with nationality or racesism but creativity)
She wants a very simple style, lots of light and no fancy decorative or grandiose ideas. A friendly house with usable spaces but beautiful.
Who can give me a name?????

Pei is retired. Actually, they brought him out of retirement to design the Islamic museum :)

The guy who 'managed' to 'design' the Museum of Islamic Arts...if you want a veeery creative and famous architect.

You have to schedule for a meeting ASAP. He's 95. At least if you can meet him ASAP you'll get a lucky chance to see him in person.

Further, the person we are looking for should be someone serious, who knows about the building regulations and paper works.

Who knows?????

I know about the heat, cold and sun. Was thinking of using glassblocks for the light factor. Yes the outside and inside should work together and one.

So apart from all the unpleasant comments......

We are looking for someone creative.

Yes I know Ibrahim Jaidah, but they are too busy for a mere house.

I know an architect that does very contemporary clean designs but not sure if he wants to take on more work, I can ask. Also, be careful of the windows we made huge windows and we don't have covers over them you can actually have too much light in Qatar before we got some levelors to cover them I had to wear sunglasses in the house. Plus they bring in more cold and more heat, something to take into account as electricity could be a factor. We also took into account the garden to make part of the outside combine with the interior by side windows and being able to see through the house.

They can only copy paste..the plans in AutoCAD...lol

To draw something new one would have to know how to use it AutoCAD.

But seriously any good Civil Engineer should be able to help you. Almost all of the young ones of them know AutoCad.

One decent guy is Mr. Allen 6557357.

The architects here seem to have 5 "standard" plans and modify them a bit to look similar to what you want.
