There no such thing as a 'free' service.

You'll eventuall pay for it via your account keeping fee, or your via lower interest paid on your savings, or through poorer shareholder performance.

I'm happier with the user pays system. Much fairer that the 90% of people who don't ask for these things don't have to pay for the 10% that do.

QIB doesn't charge a penny, I got 2 statements during the same week and they gave it to me without any question.

I went to City Centre branch yesterday morning and the bank stank of cigarette smoke- The cashier was sitting there smoking !! Again I had to go to the bank today and the same problem. Very unprofessional behaviour in a public place.

why dont you get your statement online? i always applying visas here and there on the various embassies around Doha. And they always asking last 6mths bank statement. We asked Doha bank and they told us the charges (at that time was only QR 30 for all the statement).

Since then we always get our statement online.

nothing is free. you have to pay for what you need. Aren't you paying for immigration dept? I think as solomon said 3 months should be enough as the statements purpose is to show your net income to support the family...

I hate Doha bank for its greed, though...

actually in Labor department, even a month statement is sufficient as long as your company certifies that it is a salary account!

I don't get it. The bank has to cover the cost of providing a branch, people to work in the branch, and all the necessary equipment to provide services like printing duplicate statements.

There is a cost tothe bank for providing duplicate statements. If the bank provided them for 'free', then people like me, who never ask for such things, are effectively helping to pay for people like you who make these requests.

What's so hard to understand about the banks charging people who ask for these things? Banks are there to make money. That's why people buy shares in them.

Doha bank is very kind, commercial bank charges QAR 50 per month.

Doha bank is not good bank to bank with. Lot of charges they charge. Open account with Ahlibank its much cheaper no hidden cost. If your salary is above Qar 3000/-they will send you statement every month free.

Only thing is there should be company letter that monthly salary will be transferred to Ahlibank account.

Least they can do is have a standard fixed charge and not change it every 5 months!!

CBQ also charges some ridiculous rates similar to Doha Bank.... best part is, for any govt. related work or to open a bank account they require the most recent 6 mos bank statement....u cant even use one thats a couple months old.... hence u have to keep shelling out for one stupid stamp!!!

Any stamp from anywhere costs money eternity. YOUR marriage contract has to be attested... that costs money.

As I said, anything over your monthly mailed statement is a service from the bank. Cheque books also cost money right?

Banks know how to make money. They are so clever with it. That is why you have to pay. lolz..

Its really crap, especially Doha Bank. I know they play the same crap to every one. I am fed up that is why I never go to banks. I with draw money from ATM's. I hate going to banks. I even went once to take statement. They charged me the same for 6 months and the person on the table said if you want statement for more then one year old then it will be 50QR per month. How ridiculus.

Thats true., but the statement that they post/email cannot be used for any official purposes because it has no bank stamp on it!! so whats the point of email....it is robbery if you ask me.....why should you have to pay to get an official statement of your OWN account???!!!

There is a charge because you are mailed your statement every month to your P.O Box for free. The statement you are asking for is an additional service. _____________________________________________________

We've never had a bank statement from HSBC.

It was so much hassle setting up the account and getting the credit cards working that we just can't face talking to them again. I'm sure they're going to a random PO Box, but I just know that I'll end up (yet again) with cancelled cards if I complain about it.

Each statement is per month, so therefore it is more...

GBP 10 (QAR 50) x 6 = GBP 60 (QAR 300)

not abt UK, USA etc. and if ur UK bank is charging GBP10 for each statement, its ok. but Doha bank charging 25QR for each month, not for each statement.

Think yourself very lucky...

In the UK you need to supply Bank Statements for mortgages and Banks charge approx GBP 10.00 (QAR 50.00) for each one.

Unless you have a decent enough Bank Manager to overrule the charge it stands. Thankfully I do! ;-)
