Al-Thani Award for Photography
Sheik Saoud Al-Thani from Qatar, the world’s most important art collector, is founder and name giving personality of a unique international photo contest: THE AL-THANI AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
It is the aim of the contest to promote the art of photography in establishing a world wide number one photo event. It shall encourage participants from around the globe to communicate with each other through the wonderful language of photography.
The contest is organized extra territorially on behalf of the Qatar Photographic Society by the experienced team of Trierenberg Super Circuit in Austria, where the judging will take place too.
The exhibition will be presented in Doha / Qatar as well as on location all over the world. In 2008 after showing the exhibition in Kiew / Ukraine and St. Petersburgh / Russia it will be on display in Volterra, Italy.
The opening will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at
Logge del Palazzo Pretorio in Piazza dei Priori.
Time of opening: 10.30 - 13.00 / 15.30 - 19.30
Dr. Chris. Hinterobermaier, Chairman of the Al-Thani Award for Photography will be present at the opening. The exhibition is Volterra will present the very best entries from the contest of 2006 and 2007. In addition to the exhibition a stunning digital slide will present the best entries in the Al-Thani Award 2007.

Γειά σας, καλή χρονιά και χρόνια πολλά σε όλους!
Είμαι απο Κρήτη και πριν 2-3 μήνες κέρδισα ένα βραβείο στο φωτογραφικό διαγωνισμό που σπονσοράρει ο Σείχης Αλ-θανί,
"The Al-Thani Award for Photography 2008" και με έχουν καλέσει να μείνω 5 μέρες στο Sheraton hotel, για τη βράβευση. Θα ήθελα να ρωτήσω πόσα χρήματα θεωρείτε οτι πρέπει να κρατάω για αυτές τις μέρες και αν υπάρχουν (φαντάζομαι σίγουρα θα έχει - αυτή τη περίοδο ψάχνω και στο internet) μέρη με φωτογραφικό ενδιαφέρον αλλά και τοποθεσίες που θα έπρεπε να επισκεφτεί κανείς όπωσδήποτε. Ευχαριστώ εκ των προτέρων για την όποια βοήθεια.
Επίσης αν υπάρχει κάτι που θα έπρεπε να ξέρω για το Qatar παρακαλώ ενημερώστε με. Π.χ. πρόσφατα διάβασα οτι η συμπεριφορά των οδηγών είναι περίεργη. :)
