Amman-Damascus Trip
I will reach Amman (Jordan) via an airplane from Doha but I intend to reach Damascus (Syria) by land how is this possible? From Amman where will I proceed to get to Damascus border? Is there a public aircon bus or a taxi to reach the border? How many immigration borders are there in Damascus? Which one should I take? Please state the specific name of this border. How long is the travel time from Amman going to Damascus border?
Once I reached Damascus border and inside the Syrian territory, is there a taxi/cab going to the city? Please indicate which safe taxi must I take. How much time does it take to reach the capital city of Syria?
What are the tourist destination inside Damascus? Are there religious tourist spots either for Muslim or Christian in Damascus? How do I get to these spots? Are there restaurants nearby these destinations?
Any suggestion on a 3 or 4 star hotel in Damascus?
Any information on the above queries will be highly appreciated.
Many thanks and I'm very grateful in advance.
jordanian embassy told me that they issue multiple entry visa good for 6 months for pinoys .. so no worries if i go back and forth of amman and damascus borders
You can ask at the Jordanian Embassy when you get your visa, but I had a multiple entry visa. The lady said that I may not need it but it's always good to be on the safe side. Costs just a bit more.

Hi baldrick2dogs, Mandilulur and vignale! many thanks for all the info and tips above. It's much appreciated and I'm very grateful about it. I am a Filipino who will travel to mid-east for leisure and amman and damascus are included in my itinerary. Yes, I did try the traveladvisory.com and got tons of info there and I would very soon visit lonelyplanet.com as well .. though I know Damascus to be a great historical country in itself, I was impressed with the travelers review of the place as they are simply amazing ..
About the visa, i will obtain here from doha .. but if I exit from Amman going to Damascus and after 2 days I would be back to Amman again does that require me to obtain a multiple-visa from Jordan? I heard some of my friedns went to Syria thru the border from Amman and went back to Amman to be back to KSA but I have no idea if they had multi-visa or otherwise .. please advice
Both Amman and Damascus are worth all the peny and time to visit these historical places of civilization ..
thanks again and more info please, if it's ok
Well, not Americans anyway. This is from the US State Department. ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A passport and a visa are required. Visas must be obtained prior to arrival in Syria from a Syrian diplomatic mission located in the traveler’s country of residence, although the Syrian visa policy with respect to American diplomats and citizens is currently under review.
And I know from experience that the visa is about $100 USD but as you say, well worth the price. Damascus is a fabulous city.

Mandilulur, you are wrong. Syria give Visa on arrival for people from various Countries. I suggest ck69 check with the local embassy if he is eligible for a Visa on arrival.
Suggest also that ck69 get himself for example a Lonely planet book for Syria and Jordan. All the information he needs is found there.
BTW. Damascus is a fantastic city and is in itself a major tourist attraction.
I would suggest tripadvisor.com and fodors.com for comprehensive information about this trip. It really isn't that far or that difficult. And don't forget your visas, Syria does not have tourist visas at the borders or airport, you have to get it in advance. Check about Jordan's requirements since you will need a multi-entry visa for coming back the same way.
