Banana Island is a few KMs out to sea from Doha - you can still see the new airport development from the Island. You'll be able to find it on Google Earth/Maps.

It's a tiny, curved island. Nice for swimming. There's no entertainment there, though they have put up lots of parasols/umbrellas and provided bins. It can get busy during peak times such as holidays.

Banana Island is an apparently artificial island created during dredging of Doha Port many years ago, and is being eroded gradually now.

Its about 3 km East of the Northern tip of the new airport on the right hand side of Doha Port. Nothing special really, just a recognisable spot in a featureless sea. Main advantages are that you can swim without a large audience in deep water.

from the location of intercontinental hotel, there is an open beach area where you can rent jet ski or boats..that is how i and my friends went to banana island. but there's no entertainment there that i know, it's just a small island. some say that from the corniche, you can rent a dhow too that can take you to banana island too.
