English accents lost

I am curious. I noticed something with British singers, they lost their accents when singing. Why is that? Like Amy Winehouse, Oasis, Joss Stone, etc.

Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. once got dress up like an English Gent of the 19 century for a broadway show, you should seen him with his Afro-british accent and mannerism.

He was unique and smooth.

Including Jerry lewis was crying real hard with Sammy astonishment play and the public gave him one hell of Outstanding applause for his act.

You could find him in U-TUBE.

"why do baddies have to have russian, arab or brit accents"

I don't know. I'm fed up of Dick Van Dyke accents appearing in action movies. It must sell, otherwise the studios wouldn't do it.

I don't know. But maybe, I think its more straightforward to sing in an American accent. Or maybe its because of the rolling of the tongue when singing.. But English indie do not lost their accent when singing..

Now I'm listening to Joss Stone's L-O-V-E and I have to say her accent is so American..

cheers,

paul

The same reason why American actors have to use russian, arab or british accents when portraying evil people: it's what the audience expects.

If you're singing Blues or Jazz, it would be difficult to project your British accent.

Remember ABBA ? They were Swedish, could hardly speak english, but sang beautifuly in English.
