Can there be a more moronic mother ??

The world is indeed a strange place .....................

A mother has been accused of selling newborn twin boys for £9,000 to pay for cosmetic surgery. Sonia Ringoir, a 31-year-old restaurant worker from the Belgian tourist haven of Ghent, was arrested and charged last week after the allegations were made by her estranged husband.

Marc Poppe, 48, told an undercover reporter for Dutch television that Ringoir had sold the babies to a friend to fund liposuction, the fat removal procedure. He said the couple had searched the internet to find a quick way of making money: “It was financially attractive to us. Of course we wouldn’t do it for nothing.”

Since Belgium has no law banning the sale of children, Ringoir has been charged with “degrading treatment” of the twins. She has also been charged with fraud after a Dutch couple alleged she had conned them by falsely offering to be a surrogate mother. If convicted, she could face between one month and five years in jail.

Last week the shutters were down at Ringoir’s large family home in the pretty village of Lovendegem, eight miles from Ghent. The only sign of life was her new boyfriend, Mitch, who stood smoking by the back door. He refused to comment.

In an earlier interview with a local newspaper he had claimed that her husband had “put her under pressure to have her body rebuilt”, saying: “Sonia never had debts before she met Marc.”

In the end she had a gastric band fitted to reduce her appetite rather than liposuction, he said. Ringoir, who has five other children aged between three and 13 by two different fathers, was a “good mother”.

Ringoir’s case came to light during an investigation by Netwerk, a Dutch television programme, into an online trade in surrogate babies between Dutch couples and Belgian mothers. The programme focused on a Dutch couple, Gideon and Tamara Stegeman, who admitted buying a baby from a family in Ghent.

The Stegemans claimed they had previously been deceived by a woman named Sary Levy who charged them £900 for three attempts at artificial insemination. The programme tracked down the mysterious Levy to the home of Ringoir, who admitted that she had been a surrogate mother but refused to answer questions about the Dutch couple.

"If convicted, she could face between one month and five years in jail. "

...psych ward would be more appropriate.

it is best these kids go to a home where they are wanted and loved, the state of mind this couple are in, well, its better the kids are not around to witness the madness.

I do feel sorry for this woman, obviously has issues with low self esteem to allow any man judge your looks and have to sell your children to feel better about yourself..I hope that someday she receives the help she needs, incase her children come looking for her when shes older...

Better that the children go to someone who loves them enough to pay for them, then to force the child to stay with their moronic mother.

Its happening because children were not born with wedlock and so its illegal children and these mothers have no emotions for their child. poor people.

Poverty is not for the sake of hardship. No, it is there because nothing exists but God. Poverty unlocks the door -- what a blessed key!

We do have a lot of Moronic mothers in the USA, the problem is that the State laws, do protect them more than their own fathers.

ngourlay said moronic laws ...

If you allow kids to be bought and sold, some poor women will sell their kids. It seems hypocritical for the state to complain how the women spend the money."

EM - But just because there is no law against selling kids does not mean that it's legal. Silence is not acquiescence. It's just a lacuna, something they haven't thought about to plug up because too busy fighting other fires (passing other laws). No legal system is perfect, just like no person is perfect. Everything and everybody is a "work in progress". Having said that, some are "work in regress". :-O

Is it moronic or is it pathetic and our sympathies should go to her?

At 1st glance, it's totally moronic to sell her kids to pay for something trivial like liposuction.

However, if you look closely at her mental state of mind, you might see the strong possibility that that husband of hers contributed to her warped state of mind, failed to take responsibility for his own actions and then reported her to the police - PROVIDED it was true that "her husband had “put her under pressure to have her body rebuilt”.

She had a gastric band, has 5 kids by 2 different fathers - note: some abused women tend to keep making the same mistakes, choosing men who will end up ill-treating them and abusing them emotionally and/or physically. I have known a few intelligent women who end up in these abusive relationships time and again. They get out of one jam and promptly get themselves into another jam.

Note: Also possible that the other men in her life contributed to her mental state of mind.

Obviously too poor to afford cosmetic surgery without selling her children.

Allowing the sale of children will always lead to kids being sold. After the mother has received the money, is it really so bad that she spends it on stupid things?

This is not a poor woman. This is an idiot who used her offspring for financial benefits..
