Shell not providing family status?

I heard Shell GTL is not going to provide family status or HRA for its employees till 2012. Many people declined the offers due to this. Is it true? Why a world class company is doing like a small contracting company? Any one working in Shell can reply?

Could also be because the Qatari government may not be giving visas for families, only for singles.

Because in Qatar company has got license to abuse their employee (hire cheap labour, work more hours, less facilities) from Qatar government(SLAVERY-SPONSOR rule), so they are in full swing. So if you want to become slave... join the team.. otherwise another Indian or Filipino is waiting in line behind you...

I guess they are going the Route as other Companies, to give Operators rotation. Dolphin Energy is doing the Same thing, in that company the Operators are on a 28x28 rotation

Lots of Shell families where I live.

IF they've made this decision it will be for financial reasons. Hardly surprising given the currently economic climate.
