Advice and comments please !!

I have been offered a position in Qatar with a salary of 24000 QR per mth inclusive, including housing (Doha), medical/Health, child education. Is this a reasonable realistic package/salary to provide a comfortable lifestyle for two adults and two children ? Taking the present average cost of living how much can we as a family expect to save each month? All sensible opinions and comments would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Niq

ok..

salary is fine then....many expats are on that kind of money or sometimes less.

as everyone always says, it depends on your lifestyle....

nevertheless, if you are gaining by taking this job, then you should probably go for it

Hi,

The housing is provided after the salary, as is the school fees. Break down is simular to what you have shown.

are you sure that 24K includes your housing and school fees? They are usually extra benefits...... an offer for some usually reads like this

an example....

basic salary = 20K

housing = provided by company or 15K

school fees - paid by company or 50% fees paid by co.

Transport = car provided or cash allowance of 2k

Medical = provided based on Qatar medical plan

Leave = 30 days per annum

Flight = flights for the family per annum Doha-London-Doha

gratuity = as per qatari labour law

did you get a similar breakdown?

Well it all depends upon your life style, your coutry of origin and your position in the company.

Even on this forum people from third world country gonna read it and they gonna say its good.

On the other hand very soon you would see people from west saying that it is not enough and you should negotiate.

Life style is the main factor which would tell you whether it is enough or not. Search for cost of living in this forum and you would find out. If you want to live in a villa and rent / lease a car then it is not enough. However with a moderate living life style and 2 bed furnish appartment the cost of two people here in Doha is around 12~13K QR minimum. Rest you can figure out yourself by looking at cost of living forum.

You have two children and their education expense would also go from your pocket so you can live in this amount but you can not save much.
